Having owned and operated cb radios for the last 35 years the first question that I would ask is what I was asked the first time I bought a galaxy. That question is " what are you trying to do with the radio? Talk skip and for distance or just to be annoying on the radio?". That's it in a nutshell. If your answer to the question is use the export radio that you described for what it was intended then I would agree the General Lee is prob the best for the money that you mentioned. Add on another $25 or so for coax , then add on another $75 or so for a good antenna that is broadbanded enough to handle the extra channels and away you go. If your answer is yes to being obnoxious on the radio and to key over everyone then your gonna have to add a couple hundred to your buying price. Two things that you need to remember though One, being loud across a parking lot is a lot different then being loud across the country. The radios that have the built in linears are great when the linear works, but if something goes wrong with either component then all you have is a $275 paperweight cause it would cost more to fix them then buy a new one. Modulation = loudness carrier (power) = how far away your loud. the modulation is what drives the carrier. I have talked numerous times with my barefoot galaxy 66 ( which doesn't have a built in linear) across the country , otherwise known as skip. Whatever your answer to that question I asked, remember to the whole package, radio, coax, ant set up and do it right. No sense buying a lambo with a Volkswagen engine in it. Hope that this helps you. Good luck with your cb'ing adventures.

depends on weather the radio drives the amp straight 4/6 or a straight 8..... or your amp has two 2290s in it with a little radio like a connex 3300 or general lee

    To put it in perspective...

    20200 watts ÷ 13.6 volts = 1485.29 amps.

Even if you were to drive it with 240 volts, it would still require an 84 amp input... more than most industrial welders.
