Didn't matter if we were bobtail or not. We were away from home and away from the terminal, so we were compensated.

Lynden always got a room in Edmonton at the Nova or the Travelodge,to reset, and covered $40 a day for meals.Sometimes might be there 2 or 3 days waiting for load south.

MANY states have zero HazMat restrictions or only for 1 big city. Often the only difference is HazMat must use the loop around a big city instead of driving straight through. HM generally just requires you to verify the paperwork and correct placards, leaving BOLs in the door pouch/driver seat and no parking on the shoulder or within 25 feet of burning fires. There is a LOT less difference that most people assume. The benefit is shipper/receiver are usually nicer than van/reefer.

Check that FMCSA link I posted before any trip. It lists the HM route restrictions for each state.

The company I work for will pay you $100 for 34 reset if they don’t get you home. It sounds better than it is in my opinion. They push you to drive 500 miles most days. They want you to run your HOS out daily. They want you to get up and rolling after 10 hours off.

Some may enjoy that more but I find it get old week after week. They will gladly even pay for Reserved Parking at truck stop if it helps you run more of you clock out.

My truck in company shop I get $20 per hour waiting pay. They paying for my motel room tonight because the drivers house is already full with drivers. It has 5 rooms.

They pay per mile is a little low but they pay for lots of stuff by the hour and have guaranteed minimum pay. I’ll be getting the guaranteed minimum pay this week because truck will be in shop 1.5 days and I don’t see anyway to get miles this week. They will have find me new loads when truck is out of shop.
