So after doing a ton of research I am down to two companies...Both will give me CDL training and license which I need....So here is the breakdown of the two companies...I am asking what you guys would be the best of these for someone starting out ? While I've researched starter companies I haven't looked much into the job following that first one....So I guess the question is, "How much can i expect to make in me second trucking job"? Also, how long should I stay at my starter company for ?
    Here's the breakdown:

    Company A : 52K / year
    - manual training so no restriction on license
    - decent chance I get a manual once on my own so I would get that experience
    -it's reefer

    Company B : 65k/yr
-manual training so no restriction on license
-fleets are automatic so no standard driving experience
    - flatbed (specialty division)

How important is it to have that standard driving experience ? Or is it ok to at least have the endorsement ? Will I be able to get a job with manual shifting later on down the line with just an endorsement and little experience shifting ?

Look dude, I will make this easy for you, either of them don't matter. when you get your CDL, apply to everything you can and then talk to them to see which one fits your needs.

BECAUSE if we make a decision for you, and you are not happy, which may likely happen, then we are wrong.

    Melton or Jim Palmer?
If they're both 48 states, I'd go for the money.

Getting your license in a manual is not an endorsement. If you test out I an auto... then it's called a restriction. Better test out in a manual.

my boss has stated he has had two applicants that he had to deny because of that restriction. he has been buying automatic trucks recently. hopefully he doesnt force an auto on me. i enjoy shifting. there are plenty of other milk haulers that are NOT buying automatics. i think everyone should learn to grab gears.

I think it’s weird that you don’t even have your license yet and are already planning on quitting your job

Because these jobs have 1 and 2 year agreements with the cdl school...I am trying to figure out all possibilities...Like what if I took the lesser paying job only to leave within a year but still have to pay for half the cost of school...How much money would I be making at my next gig ? Would it be worth it to do that ? Or am I better off going with the higher pay and committing to the full 2 years of school ?
