Im leaning towards prime. It is hard to give up tax free money from the Va. Is werner that bad to go with just for 6 months to get the extra va money? The recruiter said i could be on whats called a northeastern feeder, home weekly so he says.
I am getting w-2s faxed tommorow. Dont want any trouble i already have high blood pressure to worry about.
which company would you choose

It's tough to know where to go when you start out. I was in the same boat over a year ago. I picked Schneider. They were not perfect but I have to say that they treated me with respect and always paid what they said they were going to. When my daughter got married I requested time off for the wedding but my tractor broke down in Ohio two days before. They got me a rental car, paid for it and reimbursed for the gas in order to get me home.
I did not care for the OTR part of the business. Don't like waiting at pickups and deliveries and dealing with the irregular hometime. I was ready to leave Schneider OTR for something different. Turns out they took over the trucking operations for a local company so I transferred to that account and love it. I'm home weekends, one trip out and one backhaul home. The thing about Schneider is that they have a huge freight base. I would do it over again. Put in your year with them if you don't like it, move on or maybe into something better within the company. Good Luck.Bsilva1102 and marke2801 Thank this. -
Schneider does seem like an overall good company. No smoke and mirrors. The recruiter said there was a run out 11 days home 3. That sounds pretty good to me.
Its a hard decision to makee. Does schneider have apus?Chinatown Thanks this. -
No Apu's. Bunk Heaters for cold weather. I really never had a problem with it. I always tried to run as many miles as I could and then went home. Basically just ate drove and slept in the truck. Didn't care about TV's, refrigerators and all that. Seems like not too many newbie places have APU's, maybe you can find one though.
marke2801 Thanks this. -
Schneider or Prime would be my choices out of your list.
Both have tanker school & Prime has a good flatbed division also.
Don't know what's in your area, but tanker or flatbed would be best pay for your overall career.marke2801 Thanks this. -
Thanks everyone. After talking with the wifey and imput from yall. Im going for schneider if everything comes back ok from recruiter, which it should i hope fingers crossed. If not im going prime. I have really been thinking about tanker.havent really seen the pay rate.should be more?

I started with Schneider and feel that their training program is good. My problem was most of their equipment is junk, tractors and trailers. Drove from shop to shop about as much as I did from shipper to receiver.
-
So is their equipment old? Or just well used and not taken care of?
-
Whatever you do I would stay AWAY from
CRST & Swift but if your looking for a good experience
& a decent trainer I know a few out there
Asking as u have common sense & a cool person
