Unfortunately, that's no exaggeration... Plenty of guys only pulling in 4 to 5 hundred or less, but the cost of eating and living on the road takes a good chunk out. And your life will suck for being otr. Yeah, you'll make a lil more than minimum wage, but its not worth it unless you wanna be a homeless guy that lives in the truck. That's a bad life...

Better than being a homeless guy living out side of the truck

That's a pretty old charge however being that it's drug related I foresee this haunting you for some time. Have you looked into the governor policies for pardon?

Uh...you don't think a felony won't show-up on a background check.....it will.....To the OP....if you're still employed at the company that gave you work once you finished parole then why not go ahead and stay there for a couple more years. That will give you 10 years from your felony and 10 years steady employment with the same company....both look really good to those looking to give you a job....or you can try Carolina Cargo in Rock Hill SC.....low pay , but they help you get started. I believe they run coast to coast...so in a couple years you'll have a good amount of time behind the wheel.

There are several states that do not allow employers to ask about criminal records. You could always move to one of these states then resume your job search.

I may be wrong in assuming that for almost any trucking job , a background check is mandantory. Anywhere in the country, since a CDL is a federal thing now.

Yeah I'm not sure I just remember several apps I've filled out noting do not answer this question if you live in X state. Then I just Googled it and there are some states that do not allow this to be asked - though not sure regarding trucking specifically, and no offense op but I think it should be required as some things you are hauling are high in value and or dangerous.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this.
