I went with Big Road too. Haven't plugged it up yet. What would you say is the most difficult to get use to?

I got a TransFlo from the Truck Stop back in June to avoid the last minute mob rush. Hooked it up yesterday (easy set up) used it today and it never missed anything or locked up or anything. Worked like a charm. Used my phone as the interface, Bluetooth never gave any problems. It was free and has 6 months free subscription......

The hard part for me was getting used to grabbing my Tab instead of my logged book. once I got used to the interface I really like it, it does a lot of the repetitive tasks automatically. Once I hooked it up to the ECM though, its behavior changed. I can't tell it to start the drive line, it only switches to that automatically. You really stay on top of it because you lose the ability to make edits if you forget to do something. I've been using the app since June, so I'm used to that part, but adding the dashlink added some more frustration to my day.Cummimgs Trucking LLC Thanks this.

I havent used big road, but elogs in general. The most difficult thing for me was adjusting how i plan my route. The only time i did any trip planning before was when i was pulling permitted loads with curfews. Switching to elogs made me trip plan every load just as thoroughly.Cummimgs Trucking LLC Thanks this.

LOL. Maybe it is not that dumb to play dumb with the above mentioned device and have a happy life a little longer. At first, or at least till April, only a few are going to know what an ELD really is, including DOT scales. Not saying their are stupid dumbarses but it may be a while before they know what to look for. At the beginning, it may be sufficient for them to see you don't use a pen and paper. It won't last forever, though.gokiddogo Thanks this.

I knew Chicago people would find a way

I have heard people from Chicagoland is using Garmin elds with cracked softwares like paper logbooks...

mhyn, believe it or not but I decided to get Keep Truckin seeing that you got it too.I don't know why...I did not feel like researching the thing, just randomly saw you post with a pic of the thing. So if there are any mishaps with it, I'll blame it on you.

Seriously, I think, it is better to stick with something popular, for better know-how and support. I am about to install it today...nah tomorrow.
I thought about Garmin as a back up and also like the fact that with it, the data is only at your disposal, you control it a 100% and and you are responsible for backing it up too. Incriminating data is worse than no data, which could be lost or damaged.
I am a Chicagoland patriot but no...too old and tired to play those log books games. I'd rather plainly and openly go over hours, if needed, than cracking those... I think ,that falsifying/cracking is worse from being 1 hour over your 11 or 14 here and there at times.mhyn Thanks this. -
I have tested KT. I can run it as AOBRD however speed threshold setting is not working yet. it's set at 5mph. I can see it can be raised up to 15mph. Still waiting for that. I will be completely satisfied when 15mph will work. Another good think is the 'hard wired connection' option . KT is a well built eld and looks like it get improvements.
I am from California and run in Arizona very often. 15 min over 11h driving time costs about $1500-2000 down here..TallJoe Thanks this.
