If you are in a hometime fleet, (7/7, 7/3-7/4, 14/7) you will probably have to slip-seat. Sometimes if they don't have enough drivers in the rotation, you can go for a while without slip-seating, but eventually you will be sharing a truck with someone. If you want your own truck, you need to go National, and not on a Hometime fleet.

I had been pulling van the past three months and the backing is a lot easier than what I had to do with a flat. But I still am thinking about coming back to Roehl flatbed.

The 3 months I backed with a van this summer actually helped me to back better with a flat. Flats are definitely different to back, but the constant van backing has helped my flat backing.

Not saying my backing is perfect, but I like backing spreads alot more.

THOUGH I am rusty at backing duals.. It's a completely different experience then spreads. When I ran van, I could put that 53 anywhere you wanted. It's the same with my 48' spread now to. But I got a curtain the other day with duals and I had some overhang on the back that threw me off. So I know I'd be rusty at backing a van trailer. To be honest, the transition from 53' van to 48' spreads wasn't all that difficult to me. I think the other way around it would take me a couple backs to get the hang of it again.

I will be honest. I have my good days and then there are the days when I can't even back up straight. Lol!

Oh I remember those situations.. Wake up all disoriented and have to ask the guy twice which door because your brain can't process information just yet. Then backing... oh boy, always a challenge at the old grocery warehouses built for smaller trailer and it always seem that they gave you the tightest on between two trucks with a building infront of you.

I guess I just have bad luck!
