I thought it was the most valued perk! Think about it.... I don't know what it is about a military or police uniform.... But there is something there that drives the women crazy!!! As soon as they see that uniform they've got to have the genitalia that is in it.... The uniform & alcohol are the only things that forgives ugliness.....

Just remember that some STDs are a gift that keeps on giving.

Sorry, there are NO non-combat jobs in the Army. Period.

Even Chaplains are riding around in crappy humvee's in Iraq and Afghanistan getting shot at, and they do not even have a gun to shoot back with.

If you are going into the Army, expect the possibility or even likelihood of some combat. I speak from experience, 15 years as Military Intelligence (non-combat desk job) of which the last year and half has been at Walter Reed Army Medical Center getting put back into working order and medically retired from pulling my non-combat duties in non-combat Iraq.

A man in uniform is only as good looking as his eyes.

I tell my kids to stay as far as possible from the military, regardless of what they are offering. All the paid vacations and free schooling in the world doesn't make up for a torn psyche and a traumatically amputated limb.
We've been fighting these "wars" for ages and nothing has been decided. The only folks getting rich are the defense contractors and the prosthetic limb manufacturers. I'd rather get my hugs from my children with the arms God gave them.
While the military is overseas fighting for our "freedoms" the government stays stateside and conjurs up reasons to take away more of our freedoms every day.
I'm pretty much immune from all the flag-waving patriotism that has swept the country the last ten years or so. When I was in the military the general public just yelled perjorative comments as us as they drove past us and pretty much were hostile to us at every chance. It's funny how times change, but eventually everyone is going to tire of us being over there for several decades and the pendulum will swing back the other way.
Expect the anti-military sentiment to hit a crescendo about the time entitlement cuts are made to social security, Medicare and welfare programs.

Yeah... Love of one's country is so overrated.

    :biggrin_25526:

Thankfully we have plenty of young men and women that are still willing to serve their country.
