As for the power with the 58's from what I can tell when the truck does run right there ok not as strong as I thought. Not much differance in smoke or egt's either. I'm sure with a custom ECM will wake it up.

this may sound stupid, but do you have a fuel temp wire on it? mine one time the boost was jumping all around like that turned out the resistor in the wire was not making good contact . worth a shot i guess:biggrin_25521:

CAT motors don't have EGR valves. If they have any emissions equipment it on them it is in the way of the ACERT. Which basically manipulates the intake valves duration.

Boost jumping around could be a sign of an electrial problem, need to run the truck while watching the sensor readings, a faulty atmospheric pressure sensor or boost sensor can cause that kind of problem, also check you power and earth supplies to the ECM are in good condition.
Does your speedo read from the ECM, out here anything that old had a separte circuit for the speedo, completely independent from the ECM.

I put a new boost sensor, and I'm pretty sure the speedo is with the ECM . Where is this atmospheric sensor you talk about? How much is it,and is it hard to change, just plug it back in or do it have to be calibrated? Oh yeah and I check the power and ground wires, and all was good there.
