    Hmmm. My 2 cents

I first started drivng a Volvo 670 with a Volvo d12 engine. No issues. I had the truck for 2 months. after, I was put into a Brand New Kenworth T660 with a Cummins 450. from 65 miles to 450,000 miles, I only had to replace 4 tires, oil, filters and 1 turbo. The turbo didn't fail, it was making a funning noise. Come to find out that the shaft was 10K of an inch out of round.

Oh. also when I first got the truck a cooler hose on the bunk wasn't put on and it blew off causing us to loose all coolant.

I now own a Volvo with a Cummins 500HP engine. I have replaced the turbo, brakes/radiator/AC condensor/brakes. The origh inal turbo is still good. I replaced it because several
Volvo dealers said it was my problem, but, it wasn't the problem.

So, I would say for me, I have had good luck with Cummins..

    First Volvo was a 06 I think
Kenworth was an 08 - The truck has never wanted a manual regen.
    Current Volvo 07.

I have heard of problems with 08 - 10 enginies. I think that is the 871 engine. I don't think the problems have been the engine, I think the problem has been the after treatment unit. issues with regen are what I have been hearing about.

Sir if i were in your place, old volvo 780 in good shape from south states, with a detroit engine, rebuild it and trust me my friend you will go in the shop for changing oil only, trust me sir. I have a 1075000 miles truck with detroit 12.7 and NOTHING done on engine so far, only turbo because the actuator had oil dropping. VERY VERY good on fuel and third VERY VERY cheap to work on. NO emissions crap, it means no $$$$ wasted on dpf and its related parts. I felt it on my skin ($ 10k after 2nd week for turbo and dpf change), like in my country they say, a smart person learns from other people's mistake, the stupid ones learn from their own mistakes. So please don't be like me the stupid one.

Well, I'd like to strap 4 Ford 2.3l engines together. You just can't kill those Pinto engines. LOL...

    OK.. OK...

Cummins ISX 870 engine. No DPF..
