Is there a good GPS system out there for trucks...the one I bought (said trucks included), so one fine day took the wife and went for a ride (in car), in truck mode and it took me under 2- 11ft bridges. If there is, where do I get one?:biggrin_2558:

I use(d) CoPilot Truck 9 when I was driving with Schneider. It comes with a USB GPS receiver and plugs into your laptop. Garmin also makes GPS units for trucks too.

Here's a picture of my old setup in my Century:

    It's made by ALK Technologies

ANY GPS will work for trucking. What you SHOULD be doing is entering your own route manually into the unit. Do your OWN trip planning so you know where you are going and there will be no surprises. Use some common sense. You can read a map so take that knowledge and apply it to your technology. Anyone who just types in an addy and goes is asking for trouble.

I would recomend the Rand McNally TND. They are constantly improving and putting out updates and new features. will tell you where the work zones are plus keeps track of your hours for logs and miles for each state driven.

I just got a job for a local company that does alot of pick up and deliveries in the Philadelphia, and New Jersey area. I was wondering if any truckers have purchased any of those gps units specifically for trucks and if so what would you recommend. I already have a garmin gps for my personal vehichle, but it does not have the option for trucks on it. I am looking for some feedback. Also i am not looking for the labtop versions only the dashmounted ones thanks!

Ive been using the pcmiler navigator since they came out. Its not perfect but it does a good job on the truck routes and it has never routed under a lower than 13'6 overpass. It also doesnt come up with errors like the Rand Mcnally does. Once Rand Mcnally gets all their bugs out , it should be a good unit but not now,

I'm trying to decide on which GPS unit out of these 3 I should purchase. They all look very nice and helpful, but once I pull up the reviews on each of them from different websites, that's when I start getting confused. One website/person might say a particular unit is great, while another website/person may say the complete opposite about the same unit. Here are the 3 I'm debating over:

    *Garmin Nuvi 465t

    *Rand McNally IntelliRoute TND 500

    *PC-MILER 540

I know that most reviews written for a particular unit were written around the time said unit was released, so obviously the maps, software, and maybe even hardware will be a little more up-to-date, and have some of their bugs worked out. But I'd just like to get the opinions of you guys here about these systems if you've ever used them, and help me make a good, informed decision. Thanks a lot for the help!
