Farm on the next side road over has 4 like that with grain boxes on them. Hutterite colony up in Manitoba ordered 10 trucks and only took delivery of 6. The farm got a pretty good deal on them for taking all 4. They’ve been living in the pole barn over there but for harvest ever since. Grain boxes have rotted off them a couple of times now but the trucks are in surprising shape. Forget what year they are, but they’ve got round headlights and the old style toggle park brake valve above the ignition switch.

    OLDSKOOLERnWV and Feedman Thank this.

I’ve seen a few in Eucs that were dry. They were coated in so much limestone dust they couldn’t leak if they wanted to.

That is the exact loader I keep trying to get Cousin to buy. He put some huge great rock spade he found somewhere on his 950 instead. He’ll upset that yet. I’m just waiting for the thud from up in the pit.

    OLDSKOOLERnWV and Oxbow Thank this.

When your eastbound on hwy 60, east of poplar bluff, one of my farms is beside the Buchheits grain elevator between the Fisk and Dudley exit. Many, many loads into that elevator and Tyson just east of Dexter on 60.

I drove an 8850 with the V8 and it was a hoss. Later replaced with 855. Frame had to be cut and lengthened, to accommodate. As far as Deere 4wds go, the best one I ever ran was the 8970. Good dirt mover but still not as good as the 92/9380’s that I cut my teeth on.

Oxbow and wore out Thank this.

99613E98-03F6-4FAB-B946-3B195F1839D2.jpeg I put an 8.3 Cummins in place of a 7.8 Brazilian made Ford, in this L8000. Good truck, it’ll hold 700 bushel and run with it, compared to the old 7.8. Only thing I don’t like is the 5 speed Spicer transmission.

Anybody remember when White Motor Co. painted ALL the engines in their trucks that Pukelid green. The NH250 in My ‘72 4000 had a nice thick coat of it. Lots of old White-Western Stars around in these parts did too.
