When i look at the motor from the passenger side, which one is the #1 egr? The one towards the front of the motor? Or the one towards the back? Thanks for any help

pn VPT21001173RM they are both same so one part number works for both egr's i would suggest changing the clamp as well.

Also recommend you change the pipe coming off the egr valve..

Every time I've had a egr valve replaced with in 4 weeks I've had that pipe blow out

Shouldnt complain....this one lasted 4 years. A "friend" of mine found out that if you take an Egr valve and gut it, you find out some very interesting things.
For example....my "friend" took out the plunger valve that opens and closes the port into the motor, and cut the stem off. He then welded the valve closed. The egr will still actuate the motor, which turns the sensor to tell the computer thats its opening and closing, but no gasses get passed back into the motor.
Of course all this is illegal for use on trucks going into California, but legal elsewhere since the new smog laws arent in effect anwhere else.

Not that i would ever use it on a vehicle driven on the road. Nor would i suggest it to people to do, I merely said my friend chose to do that on his. Shame on him

And yes, you are correct....this sort of fix that saves my friend thousands of dollers, and makes his equiptment more efficient is illegal to do. My bad

Not saying that I have or haven't done that just like I'm not saying my pu has or doesn't still have it's catalytic converter

If someone wants to unplug or bypass it its up to them as long as they understand what can happen of they get caught
