Hey Boomer I'm going to be honest with you. If ever I found myself single without any connections to anyone I would be back out there driving a big truck. Only difference would be I'd have to drive for a company that goes all over the USA. I have one of those love/hate relationships with trucking. Now get off your computer and go mow your grass.

Perdiem/no-perdiem is one of those questions like "Which new car should I buy? Ford or Chevy?" It's all subjective. There will be strong advocates for each; at the end of the day, the decision is personal based on whatever factors the employee chooses to use.

The one thing to remember about claiming your perdiem at the end of a tax year is that if you get paid perdiem, you get 100% of it in your paycheck. Since it is not a tax credit, if you claim it as a deduction at the end of the year, you will only get a percentage of it, not 100%, and it might be a very small percentage, if you even qualify. Plus you have to wait for it. Plus you have to make sure your numbers are absolutely correct and defensible.

Are you in a high enough tax bracket to have a tax accountant deal with the details or do you trust TurboTax enough to put your name on the line with the IRS? Do you really need that "extra" income showing on your W-2 more than in your paycheck? My experience, like others, has been to show my pay stubs to prove "additional income" when necessary. it worked every time.

Things to ponder. The nice thing about this company, unlike most others, is you have choices. Make the one you want.

    PowderBlue Thanks this.
