Mass. Can be tough with parking after 6 or 7 at night. If you cannot sleep at the receivers and you need a place to park after hrs (the small rest areas and very few truck stops fill up early) shoot me a p.m and I can recommend a few places (depending on where you are in Mass.) I strictly run the northeast and grew up in Mass and have come up with a list of places you won't get kicked out of but can park for a 10 hr break. I don't mind helping another driver out I just won't publish these locations in a public forum. Unfortunately the list gets smaller every over time cause of a few bad apples leaving trash and remnants of human waste around

Marshalltown, Iowa (already in Illinois) to Methuen, Mass. I looked up both routes on Google maps, small difference miles wise, but southern route has small mountains while -90 has none. My biggest question is about the tolls expenses. Thanks!

One thing to consider is 84 at the PA / NY line is under construction and has one lane open. So it depends on time of day you cross. Late at night is usually best. I got stuck in a 15 mi backup on Sun night after July 4. Certainly a brain malfunction on my part.
Also, 84 thru CT can be a nightmare during rush hours so timing means a lot on that route. I drive it a lot. -
thanks! In this case I can spend the night at the receivers, but in the future I may need your list. Thanks again!

84 thru ct has been horrible to me the last couple of weeks. Between construction, traffic, accidents I have not had a good run thru there in a while. I am usually there during the day at night it probably would be as bad

thank you for the heads up on the construction!

$21.50 for the mass pike to I-290 exit 10....
Indiana toll $39.73 for I80
Ohio toll $36.00 for I80 -
Any toll dodging fuel program will route you across US-20 and I-86. I ran it a hundred times not by choice but by some mad scientist fuel manager in charge. It's some rough terrain but more economical than the extra $85. I done the math once and it wasn't much difference in cost. Like $10-15 bucks fuel versus tolls. So if you want to take the toll road it's not going to break you. It's a lot easier ride. That's another thing you have to consider is your time, weight, wear and tear. Plus the tolls are an operating expense.
IN and OH go ahead and stay on I-90. It's worth the few extra dollars to not watch the trucks flying down the tollway while you crawl. That use to make me mad.TripleSix Thanks this.
