What about buying a well maintained fleet truck from big carriers used truck lot? They usually start selling them at around 500K miles. I know some 0/0's that only buy trucks from dealerships trade-in lot, saying the dealerships wholesale out any tradeins with problems that they can find and keep the best for resale.

i honestly watch trucks around 400k -600k thats when they tend to need motor tranny or rearend work. not saying it does but i go thru them with a fine tooth comb. i have even gone as far as pulling a rear cause it seemed to have alittle odd play at the yoke and found the bearings where gone. thats just the majic number i really watch out for 200k trucks as in my mind why does anyone sell a truck after a year and a half of running it. in any case look in great detail at what you buy. look harder than you would at you first daughters car that she will be driving her and her friends around town in

in this day in age think mpg, .75 mpg over a 12,000 mile month can save you about 500-800 dollars, then think apu to make that savings even more. think with your head not your heart at this point.

I would do a "Rig Dig report" on them. It is like Car Fax but for trucks. I love the classic trucks but with fuel the way it is, you need aerodynamics. The non-EGR will be better in the long run for fuel economy and maitnance, but the aerodynamics of that truck will kill ya in fuel.

I agree with oldslowchevy, think with your head, not your heart.
