First week out in the truck every time the Reefer started I just about landed on the floor, then I got used to it and can't sleep if its to quiet!

It's funny how you get used to it then you can't sleep without it.
-
I'm the same way. When I'm at home i have to have a big fan blowing outside the bedroom door for some noise or i can't sleep either.

He said it...We all Must eat.... -
With good weather, I like flatbed. Lousy weather, dry van. Reefers are just one more engine that needs attention and fuel. Plus those nasty meat plants and washouts and babysitting the load etc.

Sorry been away from my computer for a few days. You really should try pulling one if you get the chance just watch your ground clearance I'll never forget the first time that I got one hung up grossing 200k+ it isn't fun to get yourself out of that bind and the other thing you have to remember is that when you are 120 foot long with a jeep and a booster you have to set yourself up for a corner outside of where you would normally or you will take out lots of curbs and that hurts. but if I had to pull something other than my big trailer I would say it would be a flat because I never could get used to not being able to see behind me it just straight sucks.

I prefer Reefers because one usually sits less and have more options for loads.

I would have to say reefer. It was the first thing I ever pulled and it would have to be my fav.
Though I must admit it was a bit crazy to wake up at my house on home time thinking "OH MY GOD, I can't hear the reefer, oh #### it stopped working!" lol.
Like one poster said, more load options. And you don't have to tarp it, lol.
I am a woman and I let my crazy boyfriend talk me into doing flatbed with him last summer, my god after that I couldn't wait to kiss my noisy reefer right on the Thermo King symbol, lol. -
Owner Operator - Specialized ie.. Flatbed, Reefer or other
Company Driver - Dry Van
You'd be suprised how much money does not make it to the driver with the specialized freight. -
If my LTL gig sunk I'd probably go back to flatbed if I could not exit the industry altogether. Always liked hauling lumber for some reason - pulling a Roll-Tite of course.
Gotta say my favorite thing to pull is a set now. They can be a little temperamental at times but when loaded correctly they pull good. They're great in tight spots - you can get in and out of the small coffee stops, make right turns on red easily, and stay in you're lane on the tight curvy roads. I guess I would also associate doubles and triples with LTL and Parcel jobs which helps too.
