I've had this since I was 18 when I was getting my physical for the USNA. I had it checked 3X per day for 14 days by the school nurse. It was ultimately normal.
I check my blood pressure at home regularly. Until this past year, it has always been in the mid-130s over mid-70s, but I noticed it had crept up to the mid-145s over mid-80. That's with me at home, relaxed, taking it sitting in my lazyboy. I told my GP that I thought I needed meds. Starting dose of 10 mgs per day has been keeping it normal. In anticipation of my DOT physical, I went up to my doctor's prescribed 20 mg/day a couple of weeks ago.
Today, yep. It was way up there, like 160/90. The dude at the trucking school said I'd go see a nurse they know really well, and I'll be good to go. CDL school wants to get me through. Trucking company has many more student drivers lined up, and I'd probably be sent home Day 1.
My concern is I spend the $5k, get my CDL, go to orientation where ever, and the company DOT physical people don't have any "cool" nurses to send me to. I'm out $5000 and have a CDL-A I can't use.
Any suggestions? I can get a full refund, but not for too many more days. Am I going to have to slip a $100 bill to a nurse every two years for the next 15?

It's a sign, LOL, Stay with your contractor gig, Doubt you'll get a refund anywhere, Their in it for the money and they DO NOT care if you pass or not, They already have a new class coming in
If 2007 didn't hit me so hard I'd still be in the trades. Good luck to you -

Take deep breath and hold it . Slow ur breathing down and take deep controlled breaths for atleast 5 minutes before test and just waiting in waiting room focus on ur breathing. When sitting in the seat doing tests keep ur breathing under control . It works for me ever since i started doing that . I used to have the same problem .

I’m not sure if the effect of more lisinopril is immediate or takes time to work. But darn, right now it’s 127/78. I should check my machine against another one tomorrow.Last edited: Jan 6, 2020
