I remember one of the first(of many) times that I fueled there. As I was fueling I saw an older gentleman walking around my truck and it looked like he was messing around with something. I went and asked him what he was doing. He was going around to each set of tires with a hammer and thumping them. He said that was one of the services that Whites did for the drivers. That showed me one(of many) ways that Whites was different. I hope he is still there.

Sitting at White's right now. Might be my imagination, but the parking lot just doesn't seem as full as usual.

Free wifi is gone. Sad, since that's the reason I stopped here tonight, instead of going on to Roanoke like I am supposed to.

Noticed that they have those Road King kiosk things installed and the shower price is now the Petro $11. Not a welcome sight for someone who had a few showers every week here and paid cash for all of them.

Restaurant menu was downsized, but not many signs of it being an Iron Skillet yet, other than getting my check as soon as I touched my meal. Knot really looking forward to the change. Nothing against an Iron Skillet, but I can get that menu anywhere and I liked having something a little different.

I won't avoid White's, but it has lost all the reasons I used go go out of my way to stay here. Might as well stay at that craphole T/A in Roanoke and be closer to my morning pickup.

That sucks I had no idea. Only problem I had was it was usually way too crowded but the ppl and food were great. Id rather spend $5 more at a mom n pop than stop at a pielot, hook, or tbs-ta

I drove by it the other day and thought I was lost. Lol.
all these t/s are cookie cutter anymore. Wish it would've been a pilot. At least its easier then the one up the road to get thru. Lol

I have noticed that Steel City at Ex 23 on I70 in Indiana is also going to become a Petro's. In addition, Willie's Place on I35(E) south of Dallas Ex 374 has already made the conversion to Petro. Willie's was also an iconic truck stop. Perhaps it is not so bad as at least the company owning Petro/TA are the ones looking to save distressed properties that show whatever projected potential is forecast. I would rather this company, I suppose, instead of a Love's. Not hatin' Loves. It is just that I prefer some dinner and a decent shower over fast food. Probably speaking out of my #&^ here but there you go.:Camel v2:

It's difficult for the mom n pop tks stops to compete. Because they don't get the same discounts, on fuel and other goods, as the giant 4 get. Hey it could be worse, it could of been bought out by PILOT FLYING J, where they would of removed the sit down resturant and replaced it it with nothing but fast food.

Yep....I'd rather see a Petro or a TA than a Pilot. At least you can get a sit down meal.
