These were gas haulers that usually pulled rockie tanks. However, once in a while there will be a pup, loaded or empty that needs shuttled to another dock. I don't know what they do with the pup tank, when they do this. But they are bringing a load of fuel out of a depot, and headed in the direction that box pup has to go.

Your right, not legal in California or Washington. I'm lucky to live in southern Oregon ( Medford ) and run triples up to Portland, drop, hook and return in one shift, 560 miles. I like the ride with triples, you have more grip on the road and brakes. The drawback, like with any configuration is weight on the hills.

Would that happen to be near Warren, OH? ODFL uses a triple lot there that other companies like FXF also uses.

I have a question for u sir. How exactly does it work pulling triples in Ohio, are u allowed to do it throughout the entire state and if not where? I’m planning on moving to Pennsylvania close to the state line of Ohio near girard and would like to pull triples again but it seems like the process is a little more different than in oregon

Triples and long doubles are only allowed on the Ohio turnpike. You have to have 5 years experience pulling doubles and over 26 years old and an absolutely clean for the last 5 years to obtain your LCV permit from Ohio

So where exactly does the Ohio turnpike end/ start? Would it be even reasonably possible for me to live in PA but work in Ohio in order to do that? Had a blast pulling them from portland to Medford a while back.

There’s a few companies that have terminals or what’s called “drop pads” on the Oh/Pa line. You won’t have any problem finding work

Only on the Ohio Turnpike which runs east to west, you can not have triples on any other road, but the turnpike.

The OP seems to think that pulling triples or even doubles for that matter is some sort of privilege or status symbol. After 55 yrs behind the wheel I have a totally different view of that. Why do the work of two of two or three drivers for a fraction of what their pay would be. Also what about the safety factor of two or three trailers.
This is only me opinion with my limited experience, I'm sure someone will disagree;)
