Right now all i have for a cb is a cheep cobra ($35 from walmart) it works well enough. its usually on, just with the gain turned up. Comes in very handy for traffic, scales, and at customers. ive even had local guys in boston help me out getting turned around when trying to get into a place. I say get one, you dont need to spend and arm and a leg on it, something simple works just as well for what you really need it for

Most the young or new drivers are the ones no running a CB, so I think ill explain the importance of a CB like this, a virgin has no use for that 1 condom he carries in his wallet but when the day comes he's glad he had it! Turn the CB on 1 day you'll be glad you did!
-
It don't seem that anybody uses the CB anymore. I am not an everyday driver. I haul 3-5 loads a month. I recently went on a 1000 mile trip and had the CB on the entire time. I think I heard someone talk 1 or 2 times on channel 19. I asked if scales were open many times with no response. What gives?
-
I just had somebody install mines and I hardly ever hear people talk. Ive even tried to find someone to conversate with me a few times but i never get a response!!
-
I enjoy using it. I like chatting with ppl via radio. But some call me old fashioned... -
I have always run a CB since i started back in 2005 and I still have a cb in my truck but it is not hooked up. Neither of my trucks with my current company have had antenas and/or coax to hook it to and I just havent wanted it going bad enough to bother spending my own money and time to get new coax and antenas and the time to install. Radio is in the sleeper just waiting for a new truck with the proper equipment already in place. I have never been one of the overboard radio tweakers so my old reliable cobra 29 and factory wires and sticks have been enough for me to hear and get out far enough to satisfy.

Its still usually quiet. I hadnt had a cb for 7 months and now it seems completly different!!

Around the towns it is busier and construction if delayed. Otherwise, it has become a thing of the past for the most part. -
I have had one for about three months.
In the last 6 weeks I have avoided 3 wrecks, and by that I mean the hours long delays associated with them, from opposite direction drivers giving a warning.
Two weeks ago there was a 17 mile backup on 65 south in Indiana due to a hazmat cleanup. Without a radio you might have rolled past the last exit and come up on the ever expanding parking lot.
One driver stuck in the middle said he had been there 5 hours already! And from what I saw, he would have been there maybe 3-5 more before he got rolling.

I have a cobra 25 classic, and a cheapo antenna and mount for about $110... or so. The wiring in my company cascadia was bad so I added an aftermarket antenna mount and ran the coax out the passenger door.
