Those things high a high center of gravity and tip over easy. They're mainly used by EOD if I remember correctly from my contracting days in Iraq.

I hold an active SSBI clearance, what companies will hire a new driver with this additional qualification?

Never have had clearance, not sure if I'd get it either.

But, I have hauled out of the chemical depot in Pueblo, CO (the single largest storage facility of mustard gas in the United States). Front gate guys were nice as could be, gave 'em the paperwork they needed to see, and was told to follow my escort only, as there would be areas where the guns pointed at me would be carrying live ammunition and deadly force was authorized.

Big facility, too, dates back to WWII and looked it, very interesting experience.

I had to get one for my current employer. Went through the FBI and DHS. You're right in saying that's it's not the same as getting a Hazmat or TWIC card. The process is more immense. If you're a company driver, your employer should initiate the checks if you need them. All you would have to do is fill out the paperwork and get fingerprinted.

If hauling these loads won't pay you any more, why would you want the extra hassle of getting cleared and the extra risk of hauling it?
