Call the little blond receptionist, cute as a bug, and she can get you to the dock without worry///////
Don't worry about the 9' 5" bridge clearance a half block before you get there...it looks to be 15' to her from her little Prius! -
I have been driving for 17 years and I would like to move away from using my shoebox of maps and switch to using a GPS. I have never used a GPS before, but would like to start with one that is easy to use and has truck routing and I don't want to have to upload stuff from the computer to make it work. My only experience with a Gps was a friend if mine had one in his Dodge Truck and it always announced upcoming turns after we passed them and then it started announcing make nearest U-Turn.
So please give me your opinion. -
Man have you opened up a can of worms.
With your experience and knowledge of areas. You could just as easily go with a non truck specific GPS. Like your friend has in his Dodge.
I'm using a Garmin 205w. Which is about 18 months old, and sells for $185 new.
Your truck specifics are going to run $400-600. -
Yes, but the one in my friends Dodge sucked. All the directions it spit out were at least 100 yards after we passed the turn.
-
Yeh, that would blow.
Mine doesn't wait that long -

yes GPS's do need to be updated - usually it can be done through the computer.
The bf got the Rand McNally this fall and loves it. There's a whole thread about it. Any problems with it (such as mistakes on the map, etc which all GPS's have and questions about the GPS are answered speedily on that thread.
The bf has had it almost 2 months now, been all over the US and loves it. Any questions or concerns have been addressed on the McNally thread in record time.
Yes it was around $500 but it gives me peace of mind knowing he has such a good truck specific one so it was worth it to me. -
i bought the rand mcnally when i decided to get into trucking and when i went thru my training my instuctor had the pc miller. if i knew now back then i would have saved 200 bucks and gotten the pc miller, dont get me wrong i like my rand but unless you need it to let you know when your speeding or when theres a weighstation coming up id go with the pc miller. But keep in mind you cant rely just on a gps to plan your trips it needs to be used as a tool to compare routes and i love them because they let me know when my turns coming up. so if you have the 300.00 to spend id recommend the pc miller
