Can most people who have pleased other people in the past please Watkins Sheppard? Just curious. I know this is a stupid question. I actually think they are my first choice but that whole orientation thing with only ten days scares me, but if I can pass it then I'm already getting paid for real so that would be awesome.
I would just rather come back to them after I am sure I can produce for them. Thanks again
Who is the better company?

You will do just fine right where u are. Trust me, u will be much happier at WS than Kllm or even Covenent. Once u get started the jitters will slowly melt away and u will be happy with the choice u made.
-
thanks big time though. I was really asking about watkins sheppard and kllm and I basically already decided on WS, but then saw KLLM.
At least I will know I attempted the right choice. -
No problem...anytime. We have all been there. Be safe out there driver. Take care.

WS was the only other company I considered other than where I ended up so it was one of my top ones. Knew a couple drivers personally that did well there before I started driving. They turned me down one day before I was set to go to orientation and had been told I was good to go though. Worked out better for me in the end though as I don't think I would of had a coast to coast run with 2 1/2 days at home a week there like I do now.

Dude the orientation is the easy part its all theory the real deal is once you grab the steering wheel of the beast....WS has many good reviews and more than a few here on TTR currently drive and are really happy. Best of luck I hope u make it.

like hwyprsnr said you will do good at WS just relax and keep an open mind, you will bad thing about all the trucking outfits out there,it really boils down to what you want out of it and your willing to put into it to achieve your goals.the 10 day oreintation is a good thing i think also,it will help to make sure that you know what they expect and make sure you are doing your part correctly when it comes to getting paid that is very important,if your part isnt done right your pay is slow, then folks arent happy.90 percent of driver issues are with pay 75 percent is self caused. Good Luck
HwyPrsnr Thanks this. -
You are going to get screwed over 95% of the time when you drive for KLLM! Here are some of the reasons why: KLLM pays 0.32 cents per mile with no raise again this year for company drivers. I have never met a KLLM lease driver who is happy with the KLLM lease program. Lease drivers pay all the truck expenses and KLLM keeps almost all the profit until he quits then another sucker takes over the truck for about a month. The lease program has ruined all the KLLM company driver trips. Lease drivers can turn down trips so KLLM company drivers get the trash can trips like short-hauls, mountain routes, snow routes, going to customers that are known for the longest wait times and no drop hooks. Company drivers are forced to do swaps with lease drivers near customer locations so company drivers do all the waiting and lease drivers keep moving and paying the truck expenses. KLLM has no safety bonus pay. No idle bonus pay. No APU's and no inverters allowed in company trucks. When I arrived at one of the company yards and asked the shop to repair my qualcomm during my time off they said I must drive the truck to a repair shop across town and begin my time off after I spend a few hours finishing the repair of their equipment. KLLM does not pay for actural miles driven. Only paid zip code to zip code mileage (household movers guide miles). KLLM company drivers are paid only $25 for some trips that are less than 100 miles and you still spend hours waiting at the KLLM customer. No detention pay if the KLLM driver arrives late to a customer even though not the driver's fault. KLLM does not pay mileage for driving the truck from your last customer to your time-off location. KLLM holiday bonus pay for staying on the road during the Xmas and New Year holiday is a joke. The holiday period paychecks are the same as all the paychecks during the year. More customers are closed and miles are less during the holiday period. The bonus just makes up the difference. It does not add money to a paycheck. The bonus just makes up for the loss of miles since it is slow. KLLM will take your new company truck away every 3 to 4 months and lease it to a lease driver. You will be awake all night during the process of moving your stuff from your truck to a storage locker and then at dawn starting your ride across the country to recover an abandoned truck that needs service or won't even start. My 401k program has not made any profit. The profit has been taken in fees by Fidelity's fund manager. I cannot give any valid reasons why any student or driver should consider a loser company like KLLM when there are other companies to choose from!
