in your testing do you find that the motors are actually producing less emissions when you factor in the decrease in fuel efficiency they experience?

All the welding rigs I have seen mounted on a truck have their own motor for running them so why do you need to idle truck motor??

Some have cranes on them and used hydraulic power off a pump on the tranny. The trannys comes standard with a pto on them for that purpose. Setups vary from rig to rig, some of the newer ones have a combination air welder running off the welder's engine older ones had 2 motors. This guy's rig was built to service a specific machine that he sells.

Other than that, I'm sure some of these guys would like to have their office warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I doubt it's much fun wrestling with broke equipment in 10 degree or 100 degree weather.

I know that we have all discussed it at work, you know the water cooler type talk. I usually come away with more questions than answers when I am done. I don't think anybody has really looked into it and if they have they haven't made what they have found common knowledge.

It needs to be looked into ad if it is as I think it is then it neds to be shouted from the rooftops.
I wouldn't think it would be hard to break the particulate figures down into a per mile figure then factor in the mpg loss. It would be a rough figure but something to start with.
then someone could shove it striaght up Californias ........ ah, nevermind

If you give me a few days I could come up with some very rough percentages from my own :biggrin_25524: math skills.
