Well...really depends on what you wanna do...flatbed or van/reefer...but...i would suggest TMC first...because Werner and Swift hires anyone wit a CDL...so i would go wit TMC...incase ya mess up or don't wanna be there...go to companies that ALWAYS hire...like Werner or Swift...Trans AM got automatics...wouldn't suggest doing a automatic truck coming from school...master shifting first...Convenant and USA Truck have ugly trucks...and isn't as big as the other companies...looks of a truck is a major part...i'm sure you'll feel more happy getting into a BMW instead of a Honda wit mismatch rims...wouldn't you?...so there on the road you'll stress level a be a little lower and happy ratin a be up...oh and also why i say TMC...is because i'm guessin your young...so i would do the harder jobs like flatbed and stuff while you young...so when you get older...go to reefer or van...cause it a be harder to do flatbed as you get older...

How would one know what one wants to do prior to experiencing the differences in the various duties and requirements of each segment?
    A guess?
    In a dream?
Advice given by other inexperienced students?
    Suggestions from student?
    Hmmmmmm
    Okay, I'll bite.
    WhY?
They'll hire ANYone with a CDL?
    Really?
    That's great news.
    I know a 2 striker with 18 DUI's who still has a CDL-A, but hasn't driven a Big truck in 20 years.
I'll pass on that information. :biggrin_25525:
Doesn't that statement go against your first recommendation?
    Sorta rise to the bottom?
    WhY?
"Ugly" is in the eye of the beholder.
Some folks can easily overlook "ugly" if their paychecks are beautiful, and/or they're otherwise happy with a company with "ugly" trucks.
    Here's a thought ------
The Big truck doesn't make the driver,
    NopE!
The driver makes the Big truck.
A GOOD Big truck truck driver can drive ANY well maintained Big truck.
A GOOD Big truck truck driver wouldn't drive ANYthing NOT well maintained.
At least not on the highways.
    And that means what?
    YeAH!
It's always better to be sitting for days, waiting on a load, in a nice lookin' Big truck, rather than to be keeping the wheels turnin' in an "ugly" truck.
AfterAll, y'all have an image to protect, ...... right? :biggrin_25524:
Anybody else here old enough to remember a song titled,
If You Wanna Be Happy For The Rest OF Your Life --
Just-a Make An Ugly Woman Your Wife? :biggrin_25523:
    Depends.
    Happy is as happy does.
How many folks get into a BMW, instead if a Honda, and actually MAKE money doing so? As a general rule, automobiles depreciate as one makes the payments.
Money down the drain for vanity. At least a Big truck SHOULD be paying the bills, which would be considered a return on an investment.
And an "ugly" truck is still capable of making money.
And if driving that Honda with "mismatch rims" meant a fatter bank account (read 'savings') couldn't that be a beautiful thang?
    HuH?!
    Whud 'e say?
    :smt102
    I guessin' you are too.

And you know this ...... HoW?
    Experience?
Or are you just passin' on things you've heard?

Here at The Truckers' Report, we kinda expect accurate information.
Of coures, differing opinions are also welcomed.
But opinions based on experience hold more water.

Just a thought I think I thunk and that you might wanna consider.
