I liked it in summer for ac, always been one to not idle unless absolutely necessary it was a bit of a treat. Breezewood PA and carneys point nj used those a fair bit, many moons ago used the one at Atlanta petro on pretty much a weekly basis... never ran far enough south with any regularity to justify a full blown apu.

I used it once. What was it 2003 or so when they went in? I rolled into the San Antonio T/A one morning when they were testing some of the units they were just getting online. One of the guys stopped me because they were trying to “fit” different makes/ model trucks into the window units. They did not make the plastic window card for a 1954-72 small window “unilite” Pete. The guy had to hack on a card for a 359/379 to get a crude fit. He traced it after he got it to work and gave me a couple free hours to sit with it and try it out for a “free trial” and I kept the card. Never signed up. I think I still have it behind the passenger seat all this time. Lol!

They were great when your a/c went out, but stunk like cigarettes. The parking was nice and quiet too. You want to go old school, who had a phone in their cab to hook up to park n view?
JoeyJunk, tscottme and Pittstruck Thank this. -
My company had a account with them so I didn't have to pay for it. So I tried it once. Whoever used it before me must have been a cigar smoker because when the a/c came on it stunk up my truck. That was the end of that. Guy that worked for Idle-Aire told me I should have sprayed some air freshener in the air intake on the thing. Told him they should be doing that every day before they get used.

I used to use it at the Pilot in Madera back when I hauled cattle. They had a non-smoking section there so the a/c didn’t stink.
