Pickup 0800, deliver 2200 just as my 14th hr expires same day 6 hours away 1100 dollars . This isn't legally possible . I'd say an appointment at 1800 or 1900 would be perfect . What are you brokers thinking ?
Who's sets up these appointments?

Call ahead, see if the receiver will take the load early.
DSK333 Thanks this. -
Gonna have to do your 10 hr break at the receiver if they can't take you early.
You can do a 8/2 split if you don' t want to do the complete 10KB3MMX and Mattflat362 Thank this. -

Your dispatcher sucks!
My dispatcher always has me with morning appts between 6-8 am,so I can beat rush hour to a major city.
I'll get loaded or unloaded by 9 am and have a back haul by noon.
Notice the difference between a good and ####ty dispatcher?KB3MMX and Mattflat362 Thank this. -
Appointment times probably get allotted on a FCFS basis whenever a trucking company or brokerage customer service contacts the customer to set it. There may or may not be some flexibility with those times. I doubt most brokerages give HOS any thought when these are scheduled, to their detriment. Trucking companies probably put a great emphasis on appointment times that mesh for their own trucks and then broker out the garbage. Ultimately the customer is paying the freight and you're serving their needs so it stands to reason appointments will be at their convenience and not your own.
truadvocate, nightgunner, spyder7723 and 6 others Thank this. -
Oxbow and Steel Dragon Thank this.

And they are made by someone who isnt driving that truck there at all. Or could be bothered to care.
I hate to be so simplistic. Always make a new appt or do not take the load. In this case not taking it is a good option.truadvocate, KB3MMX, Mattflat362 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Im currently in Nogales AZ.
My next load goes to San Diego 500 miles away.
No truck stops near San Diego.
Most companies would except this load and expect a driver to deliver it Monday, then park on street or shoulder.
My dispatcher gives me a window anytime Tuesday.
I can roll Monday, get closer to drop, deliver Tuesday early am,and have a back haul by noon. -
I'm guessing your dispatch was an ex driver at some point.
And your certainly right in regards to the no parking around San Diego.
I'm sitting in Barstow, with an early drop in Fullerton. Then up to Shafter, Fresno, and then Reno, for my picks.
