Well, some things just arent for everybody, I spose.
See the response below about handyman'in vs drivin a truck.
No need for apology. When I made that point, I really didnt think there was a difference between the two. There are some companies other than trucking companies that will pay for something to get you relocated or even to a training facility.
Well, even though I really dont understand that arbitraion clause stuff, I'll just try to do my job and hopefully things wont have to go to that point.
Never thought of that. Im sure they probly have a whole stack of them high-priced suits that are no better than Johnny Cochrane.
True, but if freight did so happen to slow down to the point that I was gettin all these involuntary 34 hour restarts from sittin all the time, I highly doubt that they would give me any grief for wantin to turn the truck back in. I mean, come on, they cant expect me to keep makin those hefty truck payments with no loads to get me my income, now can they??
Again, this is a recruiter we're talkin about, remember? I dont think I could trust one as far as I could throw them.
Um, just because this job page is listed under CR England really doesnt prove that England "owns" Horizon. But it does clearly state that Opportunity Leasing does which I didnt know about.
Just because the leasing company is within the same building as CRE at both maain locations is irrelevant so keep trying to convince me.
And do you supposedly have proof of this too?
Just because family members of those two companies my work there again, doesnt mean squat.
He's not required to. Whether or not he treated him like he's never drove a truck before is a different subject but with any new job, you have to prove yourself.
Just like when I became a compressor mechanic in the gas patch. Even though I had a previous 4 years experience in the gas industry, compressor mechanicing was a whole different aspect and something I've never done before. They may have smiled a bit when I told them I wasnt new to the industry, but I still had to prove myself to them as a worthy mechanic.
Well, I cant speculate on that but again, I have a hard time believing England just "all the sudden" changed their tactics. Whether its present day or 10 years ago, the fact has always remained that a leaser and even an owner/op makes money not only for themselves, but for the company they work for so it would seem to me that even during the period when your husband worked for them, it was in Englands best interest to keep him busy and that if his DM wasnt doing his job, then he shoulda been issued a new one and the other one got canned. But if he didnt tell anybody about it, how is anybody gonna know?
Thats true, but you act like things are totally different with lease ops verses the local handyman. Sure building a deck is a lot more drawn out and includes way more steps(no pun intended) than getting a loaded trailer from point A to point B but we can do things to our discretion. We can take whatever route we want and believe me, Englands routing isnt always the best. We can fuel where ever we want. Sure, England puts you on the rebate program as a punishment but Ive heard that for most lease ops, the rebate is better than the fuel cap program. We can take how ever much hometime we want, to an extent. I mean, we are under contract to pull England's frieght. The only thing England cares about really is as long as their trailer gets loaded on time and delivered to its destination on time.
And I didnt say you forgot, either. I just simply said that I'm used to it by now because a lot of people have a hard time remembering and comprehending what I say on here. Its like they choose not to believe it, ya know?
Well, maybe that was something they changed since then because we havent been "penalized" for driving to many miles in a month. Even on that check where we got paid for almost 6400 miles.
Also, we dont have this split paycheck stuff. Our next check will be based off of what we made and what our expences were for that previous week.
I would hope so. My wife is usually pretty good at goin over our settlements and finding discrepancies that need to be discussed.
Really doesnt matter at this point but thats somethin I woulda asked.
What company was this just incase I have to go job hunting again? Seems to me like this would be a company Id need to avoid.
Exactly. Our DM is usually on the ball about findin a swap or a drop yard so we can keep rollin.
Well, from my standpoint, it doesnt. But, since I dont know the whole story, I cant properly form a valid opinion about it so hopefully with me saying that, it doesnt offend you.
I dont think Id go as far as callin them a cult, but ok.
How does this pertain to them supposedly being religously discriminitive towards non Mormons?
Maybe so, but the still make money off of company drivers too.
Oh trust me, if they wanted to get rid of all the company drivers, they would. As I said, Not all truck drivin companies have company drivers.
Like I said, 8 years with the company. Doesnt matter if you've been driving for 30 years.
Who's The Worst Of Them ALL to work for?

You based your vote on one of those companys because of something two of their drivers did? I know you have a right to a vote and opinion, but seriously? You based your opinion on and voted Swift because of that? Wow..... Utterly amazing. Makes me wonder how many other one-sided, ridiculous votes were cast in that same manner.....
Hmmm....
Well, I guess I should cast my vote for Werner because one of "their" drivers cut me off this morning while passin me. I flashed my highbeams at him as to say, "WTF!" He blinked his left signal at me as to say, "Screw you, I'll get back over when I want!" Or I guess I should cast a vote for the US Express driver (even though US express isn't one of the choices) I saw a while ago for smackin a light-pole with his trailer in a fairly large intersection..... He didn't knock it over, but it sure was a rockin.Last edited: Jun 20, 2010

Oh and "now a days"?
Well, just in case you thought thats what i meant, that was hardly it. I wasnt even thinkin about it till you said it.AfterShock Thanks this. -

Good luck with that. I doubt any company is perfect if you ask enough of the "professionals" around here.
-
No doubt. It just would be more helpful to hear the two or three that these guys think are somewhat decent than the ten they think are garbage. Perhaps... -

I have never read such long-winded non-sensical crap in all my life.
That includes both sides of the arugument.Injun Thanks this. -
Yet you thought it was necessary to throw your 2 cent reply in the already overflowing pot.....

Arguing with an idealist is like trying to teach a pig to sing opera. All it does is give you a sore throat and annoy the pig.
