I purchased the Cobra Dashcam HD, 810 or something like that.

It works pretty good but the mount is horrible if you have a center pillar support, you cant a centered shot with it.

I got this video the other day, but sadly it over wrote a spectacular roll over I got just hours earlier in Twin Falls, ID.

I now know how to save video. Oh well, this was two in one day.

This is in SLC, this car in front of me was acting strange, so I turned the dash cam back on and sure enough the car in front of me pulls forward, then to the right then loses control.

Wow, good video, close call. This is exactly why we should all invest in a dash cam.

If this driver hit you, then you could have lost your job and have bad mark on your record without proof of what really happened.

DOT and your company could still have tried to nail you for following too close though. Personally, I'd have kept more following distances. Still you kept control and didn't have accident, so good job.

Average dash cams are about $50-$300? I think its worth investing to keep your CDL safe from a 4 wheeler ending your career!

I've bought several over time, anywhere from $99 to $350.

After having a few, certain things to look for when making a choice.

    1) Get 1080P HD so you can read license plates.
    2) Get easy to mount with suction cup, not permanent sticky pad, so you can change trucks easier
    3) 2" display helps, such as the direction its focused on (My 1st one was 1080P but no display screen)
    4) Night Time - The night vision IR stuff is bs, makes glare on the windshield, so find whatever quality you can with or without IR that is decent at night
    5) Max GB SD or MicroSD card allowed, most seem to be 32GB but newer ones allow up to 64 - 128 GB
    6) length per clip durations (1 min, 5 min, 10 min, etc) most seem to have a brief 1 second pause between recorded clips.
    7) Does have audio, and if so ability to mute? Sometimes I'd rather not record my phone conversations onto the video :)
8 ) Extreme Temps - I had one lock up when in the sunlight, got too hot.

I'm sure there are a few more things could consider that maybe others could list, but that is my top list of concerns for now when shopping :)

I have the Black Box also and I'm happy with it. I got it at the TA in Gary for $149. Hooking it to the laptop is easy, and if you use the HDMI cable that is included you can see it on TV. It comes with an 8 gig card, so I put in a 32 and that records at 1080 for 6 hours. I like that fact I have a witness with me just in case.

we have 2 dash cam's 1 on the left side and one on the right...... the reason is the one on the left has a view to the front and a good view of the left nose mirror (can see up the left side of the truck) and can show if I cross a lane or not, the one on the right does the same for the right side

in this vid at 07:55:49 if you look in the left nose mirror you can see the 4 wheeler passing then look at the right nose mirror and you can see the fog line so I'm in my lane, at 07:55:54 look at the RV mirror and my nose mirror then look at the nose mirror....... DAM THAT'S CLOSE
