Unless you're going to Elwood or Global 4, Wilmington is further away than Gary.
There's a scale at the Cisco distribution center on Cicero.

Stories like this are why cracking down on intermodal shipping wouldn't hurt my feelings in the least.

We all know it won't happen of course, but common sense MUST play a part. Some things are simply beyond the driver's control, such as crooked shippers that falsify weight information to get away with shipping extra product for free.

Frankly, from where I sit that crap has gone on long enough.

What about railroads and shipping companies, that pawn off the quality control of what must be hundreds of thousands of chassis on third party providers with a vested interest in spending as little money as possible on maintaining their equipment.....and leave it, of course, up to the driver to spend his time (unpaid of course) getting the equipment repaired....

Granted, it's easy to say because I'm not in that line of work, but drivers really need to start putting their foot down and refuse to pull that junk. If the shipping company wants the can moved bad enough, they need to do their job and make that chassis roadworthy.

    That is all.

Unless the cops crack down on the chassis owners, it won't change. Intermodal Safe Container Act was supposed to fix that issue................they laugh all the way to the bank.

Some companies are moving to using their own chassis only and refuse to pull pool chassis. Problem is, most customers don't want to pay the lift charges that the rails charge.
