Well....you took that one completely backwards from it's intent....
Sarcasm
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sarcasm is "a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter jibe or taunt",[1] usually conveyed through irony or understatement.[2] Most authorities distinguish sarcasm from irony;[3] however, others argue that sarcasm may or often does involve irony[4] or employs ambivalence.[5]

I love a good conspiracy theory, but the actions of the fmcsa is really very simple. It was formed under the last highway bill to improve truck safety. If they don't create some excuse to continue making new rules congress could eliminate them. So they will continue to create excuses to keep their jobs. What government worker do you know that would ever give up their cushy government job willingly? It's better than being a tenured professor.
Working Class Patriot and aktundratugger Thank this. -

Senators and presidents have it even cushier. They get to go around making speeches and collecting huge fees. They also get to dictate books to ghost writers for even more money.

Seems to me many guys do not know what they are talking about. 1st, there is no "required" 34 hr restart. 2nd, they chose 34 hrs specifically because it constitutes 1 14 hr day and 2 off duty periods. Which is why the new change will say you have to have 2 periods from 1 am to 5 am for it to be a qualifying restart. To better control the 2 off duty periods. 3rd, you "home every night daycab guys" need to quit worrying about us OTR guys. And 4th, canuck, if you have that much trouble tarping you should stick to vans. I don't think it is as much trouble as sitting for hours with 100 other vans at some warehouse waiting turns for a few doors. Longest I've waited recently was a bit over 4 hours, and that included strapping and tarping. And I never fell off the load either.
