Greed is a powerful enemy. Another driver may understand, agree and even sympathize but that other driver isn't going to go hungry, lose his equipment and house because he is sympathetic to your cause. He will fire that truck up and get the good rates for as long as the ride lasts. Not only human nature but survival....we are all feeling the pain. It isn't the first time and it won't be the last. I predict the worst is yet to come. States are broke and they are already increasing the IFTA fuel taxes. Since they work on percentage what would be their motive or incentive to want to see fuel rates go down?

I just heard the news on the government support on getting guns into Mexico. Another option - we can become gun runners then the Mexicans can run them back to the US and the government can give the Mexicans a subsidy for that. And just when we think our government isn't working to help us out. What a great bunch of leaders we have. Does it get any better than this?

So very true. People get used to luxuries like groceries, running water and electricity and we just keep moving on.

A strike would work because it would be short lived just to prove a point. To show the gov. And DOT that we can unite and we have a say so in what happens in the industry. With it being short no one would get forced back to work by some higher power. The people with unused cdl's would not have time to react or be re-trained.

Yeah it would work only if and thats a big "IF" every single truck driver in the whole country co - operated and joined in then and only then would people notice. Some drivers tried it over here although it was more of a case of just a few trucks they just decided on a blockade of the entire freeway unfortunately alot of other drivers didn't like there tactics and a few weeks later one of the trucks involved in the blockade mysteriously burnt down while he was taking a shower at a truck stop.

Just stop the fuel tankers from delivering fuel and it'll be a mandatory strike in effect. Can't get all the truckers to unite then just get all the fuel haulers to unite and not make their fuel deliveries. No fuel in tanks no miles can be driven. :argue:
