The time that my customers give me to move freight really hurts me as I end up with lots of deadhead miles I'll have 1,700 empty miles next week alone if it wasn't for that my numbers would be way better.

I have only been to Florida twice in 12 years 1st time I hauled a joint of pipe down and exchange it out and bring it right back I did this at $2.20/all miles next time was a hot load for LS and paid $5/mi people call me all the time when I give them a rate they think I'm crazy! Just like going west of 35 I won't even think about it under $3/mi and haven't been out there in years and the few times I have was for direct customers brokers just don't come close to what I'd have to have.

Brokers are getting hard to deal with these days they have figured out that they'll find someone to haul it cheap just this week in Chicago I spent two days calling on loads some loads gone before I even got someone on the phone at the end the best I could do was $2/mi and took 11 hours to load without getting wait time I'm still not happy about it and I'll never haul for this broker again he keep me there by telling me I would get paid for waiting $50 is a slap in the face I got there at 1:pm and didn't finish getting loaded until midnight tarpping out on the street at midnight was not my idea of fun. Some brokers won't even negotiate at all some are even saying all in with the rate and brokers calling me about loads are way down I usually get ten calls a day about loads all over but they seem to have stopped.
