Why are day cab guys always sleeping?

This exactly. They called me one day, as I had the timecard in my hand ready to punch out. I had been there almost 14 hours and the sup insisted I use the 16 hour rule to do one last pickup. He has a CDL, so I asked why the hell he isn't getting it, since he had only been at work 8 hours.

He comes up with some bs story about he's on the other side of town dealing with an account problem. Not two seconds later a toddler starts screaming in the background and he quickly hangs up.

The a hole was sitting at home.

 

i was UBER driver before joining trucking industry (actually I am starting in 1-2 weeks from now) i was always sleeping whenever I had a chance, on gas stations, rest areas. many cops woke me up and some even wanted to search my car. One found hammer and told me he can arrest me for having hammer in the car. then he let me go, but after he called office and run my background check, I did not have anything so he let me go. Being UbER driver is very hard, no one likes you, cops hate you, if yellow taxi makes little violation often gets away, if uber driver crosses yellow line for couple seconds even helicopter is involved to arrest him. So i made some money, did my CdL and don't plan to go back, even though I meeting new people every hour was very entertaining and enjoyable. I am retaining my NYC taxi and limo licence anyway. i was grossing $1800 per week but in NJ where fares I low, but I had good plan where to hang out and generate long distance trips. But net is probably $1200, it is very hard to calculate net, in 1 week your net can be $1000 and in another $1500 while your gross is same $1800.

 

The moment I log off is when my 10 breaks starts. In that time I have to turn in paperwork, check the schedule to see where I'm going. If it's somewhere new, have to figure out how I'm going to get there. Then I have to drive home and be a dad and a husband. Then when I'm done w that I get to go to bed. Wake up beat traffic to the yard. If I'm lucky and don't take a working break, I get to rack out for a bit

 

How do you all manage to eat? lol
That's what I am worried about the most...I am a slow eater at that.
If I don't get a chance to eat something I get headaches.

As for why day cab drivers are sleeping..probably because gigs like that involve a lot of work unloading the trailers.
