I have too but it’s just a simple fact that X15 are notorious for ventilating the block it’s not a matter of IF but WHEN
-
We have had 3 IH’s, we called them Intertrashbarrels for a reason. For local, not too bad, for long distance, just no. I currently own and drive a Western Star, only thing I like about it is the fact it’s kinda rare, and I have a yellow engine with 600 horses under the hood. Truck I drove before this was a Peterbilt 379, and THERE IS NO COMPARISON BETWEEN A METAL PETERBILT, AND A PLASTIC ANYTHING! Whether that’s a Cascadia, LT, Volvo…. IMO, the only engine IH ever produced that was worth anything was the mechanical DT466
Last Call Thanks this. -
Can probably keep an x15 going for a little longer if you do the bearings about 400k.

Truckes like any other commodity, supply and demand will determine the price a high demand for something pushes prices higher like with stocks, grains, gold etc, etc less demand forces sellers, (supply) to reduce prices in order to sell the product, so to with the International range of trucks lack of demand pushes prices down.
Thats our economic lesson for today.

The bearings are not the problem causing the issue is the design of the block you can roll bearing in every 100k miles and it’s still gona ventilate

Idk. My brother broke a cam in one and couldn’t get an overhaul kit in ‘21. Ended up buying an x15 with 350k on it to drop in. He did the bearings and just ran it. Had it til last October and sold the truck with just over 700k on the engine. Guess he’s just lucky.IH9300SBA Thanks this.

That's probably #1 on my list of why I hate the Intertrashionals I've been driving the last three years. How hard would it be for the engineers to design a separate air system separate from the air brakes that NEVER drops below 100 PSI to supply air to the transmission? I can't tell you how many times I've had to sit in the middle of a yard blocking traffic waiting for the dam thing to build up pressure again yelling at the POS. It's going to give me heart attack someday.TheLoadOut, staceydude, Sons Hero and 2 others Thank this.

He's mighty proud of that IH for someone that says it's just a tool for making money. And the poor guy can't get wood , said so himself. I can't say much about the newer IH , last one I drove was middle 70's and it was built like a rock . The newer cummins are lucky to make it half a million miles before rebuild. I drive a 389 glider and sometimes after getting it washed I don't have enough skin left to close my eyes ,just saying.Last Call Thanks this.

A local mechanic that I use for some of the work on my truck that I class “beyond my scope of parts swapping” said that X15 are either awesome, or terrible. no middle ground on their build consistencyBlagoje, Long FLD, Magoo1968 and 1 other person Thank this.
