I love all this talk about cheaper built trucks or plastic aero trucks and their higher profitability over classic hoods. Always funny stuff when a hand is talking about how he runs them 3 to 5 years or maybe till ALMOST paid off and trades them for a new one but never ever has ever once fully paid one off so as to sit back and enjoy the profits and fruits of having no payments and cheaper insurance on his equipment. All while the hand he’s talking to with the 15 plus year since paid off 20 year old hood that gets 4-5 miles per gallon less is enjoying life because cost to run per mile is actually way less then the new truck.

wait till he trades it in and he looses his ### on resale. since it's the cheapest truck out there.

it’s not “way less” to run, the difference is I only have to do repairs while running it and the loan payment is due every month no matter what

I’ve averaged 38-42k under my truck the last 5 years

I actually went from hating their 10 speed to liking their 12 speed to hating their 12-speed and actually really liking their 10 speed once I got back to driving the 10 speed again.

The 12 speed is a big Air hog that constantly runs out of air on me when I'm backing up and occasionally when I'm driving forward. It is frustrating enough that I don't want to use one ever again if I can help it.

The 10 speed does not have air problems but is very jerky at low speeds, that being said it is exceptionally good at highway speeds.

I did ltl in some hard tight places and never had air issues other than one time the compressor hose which was routed over the transmission rubbed through. I must’ve been lucky or some are defective.

FWIW the truck I drove with the 12-speed has had its transmission replaced once and the current one is a hunk of junk for multiple reasons. It was the first generation 12-speed automatic that they made and I've been told that those had issues. Hopefully the newer ones are better because I already know that's what I'm getting unless they get me the 11 speed version which I doubt.

I have the Paccar 12 speed and I’ve never had any issues running out of air switching from drive to reverse multiple times.

Sounds like the trans needs its own air tank to fix that issue. Maybe someone will be savvy or smart enough to do that on their truck.

i can't imagine smashing into a moose with some of these aero trucks that moose would be up in the front seat with you!!! think id'e prefer a hood. all these aero trucks just look to cookie cutter.

hoods hold there value vs one of these aero jobs. these areo jobs seem to have so many emissions issues with derates and things falling apart at certain times. unless CA is a requirement to run i see no sense in one of these trucks
