The International MaxxForce engine has a bad reputation.

I used to like the internationals... drove OLD ones and then assigned one in 96.. great truck.. fast forward to around 2014.. We got one as a sub truck for our fleet. less mileage than our fleet trucks.. it shook and rattled so bad that the fender mirrors were useless, the cab was plastic crap and most didn't work.. the truck had fewer than 110k on it..

The whole truck is a POS from the engine to the interior quality and ergonomics. That said I could deal with one if it was a new clean one with Cummins power.

They are not really good trucks , out past 200K and they start
    going to pieces rapidly.
The place i work has suffered with these things since they
picked them up in 2012 or so...these machines and their unreliability
have been the single biggest cause for people leaving the company.
In the old days when the had FLD's hardly anyone ever left .

I had 2 Petes 1(386)2009 Frontend on those are junk hood cracks. It had a carb Cat.(Pure Hell) I got receipts to show got rid of that junk. Now I own and operate a 379 pretty much the same(cab wise) except 386 are cheap built. I also own a '13 Volvo Cummins power I have nothing but good to say about it. Point is not all trucks are built the same. The prostar can be a good buy you just got to get one specd right. Cummins,Def, Apu, and keep it greased because they are known for front end issues in our application(Tankers).

Buyer beware,if you buy make sure you lay it down with a good warranty with after treatments.every 10 days the check engine light would come on, my 2012 prostar,EGR are famous for failing, and even with the new Diamond renewed process,I chatted with some owners they are still having issues, you better off goin to crete and buying a 2014 with a N13(uses Def fluid) I think they have them for $5000.00 DN, and $1400. a month for 18 months with no Buyout!!!
