Yeah that's what I like about our company. We buy all brand new stuff. We just bought 300 new trailers to start replacing our 8-10 year old 65xxx series trailers. We have some crappy equipment but its because its so old. When they buy new stuff it takes a long time to filter out all the old equipment due to them buying slowly. The new trailers are out there, its just a matter of getting the old ones through a terminal when their empty.

Why are Schneider trailers dirty?

I'm a local driver for k&b transportation and I can't even begin to tell you how nice it is to drive for a company with real good equipment.Trailers are clean inside and out and everything actually works.

That's definitely a good thing. I was surprised today. I dropped a load at a customer and picked up an mt. They had it swept and cleaned out. It was a medical supply place and in my load notes it said trailers need to be clean. So i guess the customer swept it out for us since they want clean trailers to ship medical supplies. If only all consignees were like this. The main place i find dirty trailers are at distro centers.

I've had to sweep many trls out and some took an hr or better. That's how bad the trls were. Then many customers I had to sweep after they were done.Although it's there crap they should sweep their own dirt, lol.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

I have seen yards post a sign that says "any trailer dropped in dirty condition will result in a $100 back charge to the drivers company." I have also had guards crawl up in the trailer and close the doors to see if there are any holes in the ceiling. I have had to chase down replacement trailers because of leaks I was not aware a trailer had; ie, I picked up a loaded trailer, delivered load, swept out after unload, pulled 150 miles to shipper where it started raining... trailer leaked. Paper load required dry trailer so I had to chase a replacement for 7 hours...
Schneiders policy states that DRIVERS MUST SWEEP TRAILERS WHEN PICKING UP OR PRIOR TO DROPPING AT A CUSTOMER. Un-swept trailers NEED to be reported to the company and should be refused - PERIOD. Driver that dropped WILL get a service failure for dropping a dirty trailer.
FYI - Professional drivers HATE dirtbags that don't sweep trailers before dropping at OCs also.DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Ive never seen anybody charge the company for dirty trls but I do like that policy though.

The guards have always checked whenever I show up anywhere. Even if you don't have a guard just get someone to go check out the trailer as it comes in. Refuse it if it's dirty.
One place cracked me up the other night. I do a drop and hook on one end of my dedicated and sometimes it's empty, sometimes it's loaded. I brought in the trailer with the 2nd half of a two drop load but it wasn't sealed. The guard opens the doors and tells me I have to get it washed out. He just looks at the floor by the doors and never bothers to look in the nose to see 16 pallets or the fact I gave him bills which means something is on it. I had to argue with the guy for a good 5 minutes on why I couldn't get a loaded trailer washed out. He was a new guy but still, you'd think a bit of common sense would of taken over at some point. -
i had a trl that wal mart spilled a pallet of drink and then later soap spilled all over the inside leaving a long white stain that wouldnt just sweep out so i requested a washout the weekend people were ok with it my new dbl wanted to know why i was washing out a trl that schnieder was not requested to have it washed out by the customer.. i had a hard time explaling to the boy that the trl was dirty and i would not want to take it to a cust or a drop in its shape and if i had gone to pick up a trl in this shape would have skipped it and grabbed another trl.. he had a hard time understanding my thought process because it was not in the what to do manual

i would not sweep out a trl on cust property unless i can see alot of trash indicating it has been done in the past...i dont want to be the reason for a negitive report to get in trouble with
