Why are Volvos so much better than all other Class 8 trucks?

You don't need to park at truck stops do you?

I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing the hood is sticking out another 3-4'. Too many of these guys don't need help finding your hood when backing in or pulling out.

I avoid them like the plague ! Fuel, shower, then gone..

I landed in a J today for lack of anywhere else to park. Before the night is over a poorly trained mega fleeter or clueless foreigner is probably going to clip me.

I have a 48' trailer and the shortest wheelbase "big" sleeper long hood I've ever seen. I park behind the guys on either side!

Don't take this the wrong way, but this is something I have tried to explain to Oso. I'm not ripping on anyone, but this is the difference between some people and guys like me that are still old school, love classic style trucks, and straight pipes and black smoke.
A truck is not a tool to us. I don't care how much fuel I burn, how little money I make.....I do it because I love that style of truck. I do what is fun for me, and I take pride in my equipment.
If I was doing it just for the sake of a job, I certainly wouldn't be wasting time and money on trucks. I'd be carrying a lunch pail to a union job.

The guys in the middle rows would really love you parked next to them. :)

    Good points.

Some of us are out here because we chose this life, we weren’t forced out here by the need for a job in a bad economy.

I get the nostalgia. However, I just don't share it.

A truck is nothing more than a tool, to get the job done in the most proficient way, to me.

And that's how Volvo sells trucks. Not everyone shares my nostalgia.

I kinda used to like Volvo, but i'm losing respect seeing how they destroyed Mack and Champion Road Graders.

LOL (not at you). The same principle, in reverse, is what keeps the manufacturers producing long nose trucks with coffin sleepers.

They do look cool though ;-)
