Every Driver needs a week off at somepoint in their lives, all I'm saying is, those with balls all need to take it on the same week. So they fire you? So what?

I became an O/O because I'm an excellent money manager, and I know how to make the system work for me. It's not always fun and some times I want to pull my hair out but I would never be a company driver. Most companies don't want drivers to think for themselves they want robots. It's not for everyone.
chimbotano, nax, nightgunner and 1 other person Thank this. -
Do you want your kids to grow up to be Truck Drivers? I doubt it. No one wants that.
-
I became a truck driver because if you're good at your job...provided you're with a company that understands your mentality...they will leave you alone, but those days are just about gone now.
-
Here's another tip, don't have kids unless you've at least done one Tour of Combat Duty in Afghanistan, or one of those other crapholes they have us in these days. If you think the world is so wonderful after that, then by all means, pump out as many as you want.againstthewind Thanks this.

If my son wanted to be a truck driver I wouldn't care that's his decision. Frankly I've made an excellent living at it and I'm proud of what I've accomplished being in the industry. Perhaps it was a bad choice for you.

I think that one of the reasons parents sacrifice for their children, what they would fight for, for themselves, is that they want their children to have better opportunities than they did. I think that there is very little risk of kids today growing up to be truck drivers. It's less and less likely that they will even learn to drive.
So what if they fire you? Well, when a little girl is crying because she really wanted to go to cheerleader camp, but Daddy doesn't have an extra $200 for outfits and the attendance fee, it may not seem like a big deal to you - but it breaks her truck driving father's heart that he couldn't provide that for her. Fill in the blank with a prom dress, or sports gear, or whatever suits you. If that's not compelling enough, try the Christmas with the electricity off, because Daddy needed to make a point to the nobody who cares.Last edited: Nov 17, 2017

Oh for goodness' sake... lots of us are combat veterans. I did three tours in the Gulf. You aren't somehow imbued with special wisdom for that... :-I Arguably, we were the idiots for agreeing to go. Depends largely upon whether you think that the outcome was worth the cost...spyder7723 and nax Thank this.
