Really what freightliner needs to do is figure out a way to make the Cascadia available in glider form.

They do. My Cascadia has the code for a glider in the middle of the VIN number... they just don't offer them outside of the FL Empire.

Hummm, wasn't aware of that, how would they cover spec'ing an pre 02 motor in a truck that never had that motor available? 2007/8 was first year Cascadia.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they COULD do it, just wonder how many hoops there would be to jump thru?

CASCADIA Gliders are available for CASCADIA accident rebuilds if deemed rebuildable by the insurance adjusters

I can understand that, BUT you would ONLY be able to spec it with a motor that originally was available in that truck, ALL POST EMISSIONS.

I like not being able to smell the exhaust of a DD15.

I didn't have much trouble with the 2008 Columbia, with the Series 60, either, but I really enjoy this one, and it couldn't be any less optioned if they tried.

The company still has 3 they bought when still being run by the previous owner, 2009s with 515s and Eaton ultra 13 speeds but I would take the newer one with less options, I like the lack of trouble.

Then what would be the advantage of the glider?

They were getting far better mileage in 03 . We are making 40 gliders now. In city trucks we are looking at a full mpg improvement over the 08's in the fleet. And sadly you are correct , Big Brother is trying to stop it. Look at the mighty Cat! Once loved for its power , and if treated correctly would get close to 8 in our last classic!
