CSA 2010 is a joke and will do nothing towards safety. What have you elogs done for you as far as higher pay just another tool to be used against the driver to protect the company.
Mommas_money_maker, volvodriver01, snowblind and 1 other person Thank this. -
Logistics done correctly, often leads to as much as a 25% increase in pay.
I roll....you load/unload.
We both unload. You wait, I take off for my next load.
I'm not rushing 24/7. Open windows of delivery mean I deliver at my own pace, then reload/pick up at the same pace. -
CSA is just a data collection tool, ultimately the PSP is what is going to start excluding drivers. CSA may have an impact on companies and their customers. So someone explain to me how a driver that is put out of service, or given multiple warning tickets over a 3 year span is a good driver. If you equipment or procedures are substandard it's time to raise your levels of expectation. Do what is asked of you and nothing changes, take your warnings seriously and do you job.
Or don't, whatever floats your boat.THBatMan8 and Mommas_money_maker Thank this. -
You and I both know that this point system is so muck up.
I know you work for a fairly large carrier, is there any plans in the say next 12 months to give your drivers any pay raises?
I get paid percentage and the only way I'll get a raise is when freight rights go up and in the last few months thats been flat for the most part. -
It's my understanding that we don't do pay raises at all. I don't fully understand that, or why, assuming that is correct, anyone would work here. If there was no chance of keeping up with the cost of living (at the very least) I wouldn't drive here.

I believe that drivers should be held accountable for checking their equipment. On the other hand, drivers can be issued warning tickets for a light that went out after the driver did his pretrip and started his day. A warning is treated the same as a ticket when it comes to CSA. If you get a bad inspection then it counts against you, but a good inspection doesn't help your score. That is a primary problem that I have with all the CSA. If a driver accumulates a lot of points, then he is doing something wrong, or failing to do some things, such as pretrips, etc., The premise of CSA is that the government is going to get all the bad drivers off the road. In reality, you need to look deeper at what is really going on. Good behavior should be rewarded, just as bad behavior should be punished. Most of what I am seeing is more politics than substance.

While that's true everything is weighted. On the off chance that something does happen with a light that's unfortunate, not quite as unfortunate as blowing a tire, but it is what it is. My biggest problem is the percentile ranking. It stands to either overstate or understate the severity of a drivers issue.

Frame rails on trucks and flatbeds dont crack while setting still, they crack for the most part while in use.
That being said, whats good on this mornings pretrip may break within the first 20 mins of use with out the drivers knowledge and with in the day be put OOS for something that was fine in the pretrip.
Logs and stuff like that, that is 100% in the control of the driver.volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
