Just for the record I spend the majority of my day resolving issues and teaching drivers how to prevent future violations. Now that our entire fleet is on eLogs it's all about maximizing driver utilization. Each violation is looked at and dealt with based on it's individual merits. If a driver is putting himself in a situation where a pattern of behavior is developing additional training happens. If it's a random event or a guy that has a violation every now and then we typically leave them alone. I feel that we take a different approach than most companies and are looking to assist our drivers to get more miles while reducing the HOS violations. Discipline is very few and far between, however retraining opportunities are available.

PS we're also on call 24 hours a day, so even though I leave I'm still available. Average night I get 4 phone calls at random times throughout the night.

oh, and I'm not hot at all.

A good way to handle it in my humble opinion.

    Let's review.

Roadwarrior has issues turning a legal profit. Hell kinda makes the case for elogs. People purposely bending the rules for profit as he admits to keep rates and pay depressed.

Roadwarrior also has had issues with office personnel not being drivers and feels the man is holding someone down because of that. I'll use his word poppycock! All I can speak for is my company and my CS team. I am treated with respect. My time is held as valuable. Resolutions of problems are not dumped solely in my lap. Of course we are adults in a fairly lucrative agreement for both parties and we as a company act like it. I can tell you I have no desire to be in any office, and further that I do not need to know how their job is done. And they have no need to know or understand my job. See if I have to do theirs or they have to do mine one of us is superfluous.

They do their job, I do mine and everyone gets along. People who choose to work for a company that acts any other way receive no sympathy from me.
In my experience those purporting conspiracies about the man holding them down are petulant children always wanting their own way, and concocting evil boogeymen to explain their failures when things do not go their way.

Airewon how should the roads be governed? I know it is all the vogue with the silly spectacle being played out for you myrmidon to hatch anti-government hyperbole but can you formulate a cognitive answer to that simple question?

The HOS rules have been around for many decades, since the 1930s. They really haven't changed alot, since originally written. EOBRs, or E-logs are not really a change to them, but more of a change in how they are enforced.

I respectfully disagree with you, people that are in the position such as you should have road experience.

I just spent the last 30 minutes cleaning up this thread. :biggrin_25516:

I deleted some 20 posts if you are missing yours. Everyone of you know political conversations belong in the political forum only.

Aiwron, you can see how one simple posts can make a thread go wildly out of control with a few wrong words. We wouldn't care if it didn't go off in a political direction.

How we got to health care I don't know.

Next time political posts will be deleted and the thread locked.

If you all want to talk about that stuff, fine. But post in the correct forum. This ain't the place!

It would still be the same issues...the "drivers" who want to get off the road don't have what it takes to make it out on the road, so they don't have the experience you would be looking for. And the good drivers aren't going to take that big pay cut....sounds like a Catch 22 to me.
