truckers want to make money. and they want to do it safely. without wrecking there trucks or driving tired.

so, for all you that claim to have friends that no longer live becuase of there own stupidity. TOO BAD.

wait a second. We are allowed to drive 11 hours a day right? I'm on elogs, how is it then I've been driving on average about 9 hours ONLY per day? Yes I realize I've shorted myself on potential earnings per day , but I run what I want how I want and havent heard the qcomm go batsh^% crazy over that fact.

I've also woken up well rested, delivered on time and not felt rushed in doing so.

How am I able to get away with that?

 

So we had a driver pay of his truck today, congrats! Way to go dude. This got me thinking after I got to speaking with him for awhile (because I didn't want to go back to my desk and work). I guess I can actually respect a self made man. This guy ran illegal for the majority of his career. Built his own house, bought and paid for his own truck, at one point in time ran his own business, etc, etc, etc. Makes me kind of question why there are HOS and why people need to be told what to do. I'm not saying I'm against the HOS/CSA/PSP/NAIA or any other set of letters out there. They all serve some purpose I suppose. Just makes me wonder. So with that being said, I can respect those of you that run the way you run and do it safely. Those of you that take ownership when you make mistakes. Those of you that learn from mistakes, know when enough is enough and when to fight for more. More power to ya.

You should fight for your rights, forcing eLogs onto everyone probably isn't right. If you choose to run electronically do it that way. If you want to run loose leaf do it that way. When it's time to face the music face it. Know that if you cheat paper or electronics when you get caught that was your choice. Don't blame your company, don't blame the shipper, don't blame the cop that stopped you, just own it.

Except for someone stealing use of the road, depressing rates by running illegally, but hey he got one over huh?

I got to ask how he ever paid his truck off running legally??

 

Tazz how did he depress the rates running illegal. Alot of us have had to run illegal but it didnt do anything to any of the rates. You know yrs ago when usxpress was southwest motor freight they had some fast cab overs and they ran with us at times. Running illegal did nothing to any rates what hurt rates were mega
carriers who came in and started cutting rates. An example is the trade show industry it use to hauled by the van lines I know I did it for a long time until the bottom feeders came in and cut rates but what alot of the customers didnt realize is that these.companies and drivers had no idea how to do a pack or the
equipment to secure it so loads were being damaged due to driver errors and companies not equipping their trailers correctly.

 

You ask how a bootlegger depresses rates. It's simple. Shipper has a load that can't deliver legally with a solo, thus needing a team to meet delivery schedule and thus deserving team rate. Bootlegger takes the load, for a solo rate and runs it, delivering when shipper wanted. Bootlegger just bottom fed. I've seen it happen many times.
