it was june 2010. driving an end dump. hauling dirt from the job site on top of the mountain down to a commonly used dumpsite at the bottom. where a city cop decided to check weights. drives were 2000 under while the trailer was 1500 over.

look at your atlas. some states allow 36. you just can't go over the 80 without a permit. and even then. you still can't get a permit if it's a reduceable load. (divisible). wyoming however allows a higher weight registration. we can haul up to 117k if we had the axles. before needing a permit.

If E-logs are such good things why doesn't Q-comm have them on their Nascar haulers ? Or Q-comm setup on them? Bad Advertising lol

My e-log wont allow me to sit still long enough to read all of the comments but the OP says

"I'm so sick of you SOBS that run illegal, it will be nice to hear you say, "do you want fries with that?" once you can no longer drive."

You're a pretty smart guy to judge me and predict my future career without ever meeting me. E-logs are here to stay. I can't argue that point, but when faced with the choice of safe OR legal, why do I have to be a SOB for making safety the higher priority? Why do you wish financial ruin on my family because daddy can't turn down a "legal" dispatch and refuses to drive tired? Maybe you have a robotic on/off switch that allows you to go to bed right after breakfast and get good quality sleep do you can drive all night and make that early delivery 600 miles away. This SOB needs a nap along the way to remain alert. If I logged it as it happened, I would be guilty of fatigued driving. If I completely followed the rules I'd fall asleep at the wheel. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to drink the kool-aide.

When the company I run for decides to go to elogs then I will get my own authority and at some point I will end up hauling grain. I need to buy some farm land since farmers get away with paying $800 for plates.... Know matter how they try to force the E-log upon everyone someone will find away around the bullcrap... I am out here to make money and maybe one day when drivers get tired of working for minimum wage running with elogs then something will change....

i dno't think drivers will ever get tired of it.

specially since they claim to be making a killing and elogs is all they were trained on.

it basically boils down to jealousy cuz they have to drive tired and do there job the way the govt wants. while the rest of us can sleep at our will. and don't have to sit there for 5 hours WIDE awake before we can drive another 11 hours. making us awake for 16 hours straight. to only be able to sleep for another 5 hours.

they have absolutely no comprehension in the fact that our way is the SAFE AND ONLY way to drive.

and they LOVE TO ASSUME that we drive 24/7.

really goes to show that them elog lovers really don't have any brains.

NUMBER ONE RULE OF DRIVING IS NO FATIGUED DRIVING. that rule will always and forever supercede any govt rulings you all love to live by so much.

I still don't understand why some think that just because they run with Elogs that they are safer than a driver who has paper logs or no logs. A little electronic nanny or piece of paper won't make anyone more safe. It can make you legal. The premise with forcing Elogs is safety. In talking to drivers who use them a number have told me that they have to run when tired while using electronic logs just so that they can earn a decent living. They feel stressed constantly due to the pressure of watching the clock. They don't take a break due to the clock. If you use them and are happy with the situation, then good for you. Just because it works for one doesn't necessarily mean that it works best for everyone. One reason many of the larger carriers like them is because they reduce their compliance costs once the initial investment is over. Logs need to be checked and Elogs make it much easier for them to check thousands of logs with a computer rather than trying to do it with paper.

Elogs don't make you safer, they make you more compliant. How you drive makes you safe/unsafe.
