On the cost issue ,here is a link: (from this website no less) on the actual costs for all of you "Chicken Littles" who think the Big Bad ELOGS are coming to get you and it will cost O/O's some excessive price tag,,,

Will ELOGS make you safer,,Yes and totally compliant, and thus safer,,,problem with all of you that decry ELOGS is for the most part your NOT on them so you have NO first hand knowledge,so you make up excuses as to why the wont work,,,hmmmmm i seem to remember a few years ago when they said the same about the Current HOS,(Oh yeah i covered that in another posting),,,but back to ELOGS and CSA 2010

The arguments against (on this thread) seems to fall under the following:
1.Cost to O/O's=Apps for a Iphone as little as $50.00,:violent3:

2.I t tells on you,,NO it accurately records what you actually did,no gray area to be disputed in a court of law,or side of the road(I.E.DOT insp)

The people on here that decry them well you always will, unless your either forced on them by CSA and or Insurance, until then if your not on them what is your beef??? How many threads have you seen where drivers complain about actually being on them?

If you or your company(no matter how big they are) are forced on them well im sure there was a good reason(remeber the smaller a company it actually takes less infractions to do this,or trigger a compliance review) and if you had a compliance review would rather have the absolute "truth" as to what your drivers are actually doing or do you want an outside agency trying to "Interpet" X number of drivers and how each and everyone of them individually prepares their respective logs

In your post you seem to think that 50 dollars is no big deal. The truth of the matter is every penny I save is another penny in my pocket. Have you ever heard of the sayings "pennies make dollars and dollars buy houses? or a "dollar saved is a dollar earned" Think about all the fifty dollars (or hundreds and thousands) it costs everytime they bring down some new regulation all because somebody stands to make a fortune of those rich truck drivers. CARB is the worst of them all.

Yeah i see what your saying,,,
    In one month,,5 less buffets=$50.00
1 less truck wash or Chrome shined=$50.00
    Couple of pieces of Chrome=$50.00
    1 less (per day) soda=$50.00
    10 trips into McD's
    1 large Cup-O-pilot coffee a day(30 of them)=$50.00
    A Pack of Smokes(per day@ say avg of 5.50 per)=$165.00 http://www.theawl.com/2011/06/what-a-pack-of-cigarettes-costs-state-by-state
Etc... Etc... ETC... ETC... ETC.... and so on

But! The price of being Totally Compliant at a DOT inspection,,,PRICELESS:biggrin_25525:

And this is why they keep on putting bull**** regs into effect. Some drivers enjoy them I reckon...
Seems as if you forgot the reason WE AS DRIVERS ARE OUT HERE EVERYDAY IS TO MAKE MONEY NOT KEEP GIVING IT AWAY.

Who said anybody wasnt compliant? Why would using e-logs or having an EOBR make you anymore compliant? Its pass or fail when you have an inspection and not everybody spends money on junk. Not all truck drivers are homeless with noone to talk to. Most of us have homes and familes that we are trying to support. I could care less about a new pair of shiny, pointy cowboy boots and big belt buckle with a button up shirt thats more like a button down shirt with chest hairs flappin in the wind while I blast everyone in a 50 mile radius with my 10000 megawatt cb and 5 million lights to show that its christmas everyday of the year in my truck BS. Oh wait, theres more! Pack a smokes a day my butt heck 2 if yer lucky and they are winston non filter 1000's with a 3 inch ash as it hangs out of my mouth while I yammer on about "the good ol'days of trucking" and how great of a trucker I am because I got 50 million miles that were drove hard with no sleep for 6 mos at a stretch.
My point being not everybody is a supertrucker just because they dont want to spend money on unnessary BS that is all in the name of "SAFETY". There are other things that need to be done to make the roads safer like weeding out people that shouldnt be allowed to drive a truck before they get in a truck and IMO truck driving school should last no less than 8 weeks mandatory before taking the test, etc, etc, etc. So many more things to focus on that would actually make the roads safer so like today hauling my OD load I wont have to watch not only for me but also for another driver texting while driving and swerving on the road while passing me going mach 4. Do you really think an e-log or EOBR would have helped this situation? NO, Not unless it caused a wreck but then guess what, TOO LATE!

Your 4 years of wisdom:biggrin_2554:,,Whhat BS "REGS" are you referring to?,only companies that are on ELOGS or EOBR's are the ones that were forced too(Like Mine) was yours??? ifso,if you dont like yor current situation,,LEAVE,go to another company that doesnt or wont have them(yet) until if any of the above dont apply your just flappin ur gums and get educated on what is ACTUALLY going on
