You mighy have 15 years experience but you need to smarten up a little about trucking. If you like your elogs thats fine but do not force them down my throught. In my 22 years i have never had a log book ticket so them makeing me safer is a bunch of bs. I work hard for my money and its up to me to spend it the way i choose not the goverment on more bs. You show me some stats on elogs makeing things safer. I see an awfull lot of trucks with the elog sticker on the door in wrecks. You can put all the safty bs you want on a truck you still need a person to drive it and you can not fix people makeing errors no matter what you have.
Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

You can train drivers for weeks on end,,but once he is on his own a bad habit learned,it will a habit that wont be broke until forced
You know those habits:
Fudging your book,,,driving past your hours,,,not inspecting your Responsibility,,,etc... etc... etc...
Now think about that driver that does this, and he is behind YOUR Family and he doesnt/or cant stop and runs over them,(not that i would want that on you
),,,and when they go over his paper log, they
find out he shouldnt have been there(cause he wasnt compliant) well i guess you just have to go

Most of the drivers responding not wanting them have stated they DO NOT run illegal. The problem is we haven't done anything wrong to have this decided for us. We are worried about the cost also. IMO if companies want them is thier trucks then so be it but it should not be forced on the owner ops. You have your opinion and We have ours.

A trainer is the students first impression of a company and bad habits will be learned from them as well as good hopefully. Like if a trainer talks (no hands free) on his cell phone then student might be more apt to. If trainer has cool hands free setup then student might want to get one of those so on, so forth.
So I guess what im getting at is that there needs to be new thinking in the industry. A student isnt there for some company trainer to get extra miles from to get extra pay and NO lease/owner should be a trainer either. Give the company guy a flat rate to train per day. This is where the focus should be not in things that will only matter after the incident has already occurred. Something like this will not cost single truck owners anything more.
I almost forgot something else. If you weeded out people better BEFORE they go to truck driving school then they would have better students to work with and less people getting a cdl and then maybe the mega carriers could actually work on driver retention.
I hope this all made good sense as I feel like Im rambling nowLaBubba, ECU51 and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
And the wrecks ,,oh jeez DRIVER make a better argument than that,,,, what about the untold 100's of 1000's of wrecks PRIOR to CSA 2010,,you know all the facts(accident records)and Vehicle safety data(Roadside inspections) they used to come up with them, all the years of record keeping they did to use our own industry against us.Look to your left, right in front of and behind,,there is the problems all around you,it isnt ELOGS,,,they are the end product of years of drivers that didnt do as you and I did,,Follow the rules...
Remember when the HOS changed??? and the industry got WHAT? SAFER each and every year since then,,hmmm i seem to recall how back then drivers like you were saying the same thing,,"Wont make anything more safer"
No need for me to (as you say) Smarten up,,,see unlike you i can seeBOTH sides of the issue,my view is not tainted by my job
CSA2010 will make this industry safer,it will take Non-Compliant drivers of the roads,ELOGS are a mere tool to do so,,,Mommas_money_maker Thanks this. -
Sell that CSA baloney to one of our other members who had some slitch deliberately run head on into his lane and commit suicide on his truck. Totally her fault, but CSA points are "awarded" to him.

Why are O/O's different than the Big Company's??? I have herd more than once on this thread that their needs to be a level playing field,So in your eyes big company on ELOGS,,GOOD,,,O/O's BAD,,Come on driver dont tell me that is the best you have
