And what is so wrong with lazy? I have no problem with you wanting to do things like we did them in 1995, but what is wrong with using technology to make the job easier? Oh, lets all go back to spring ride tractors with no AC and barely any kind of cab heater and coffin box sleepers. And while we are at it, lets ditch all the cell phones and waste our time standing in line waiting for pay phones. Oh, and those of us that have pre pass, lets all throw them in the trash and waste time and fuel going into each scale we come upon that's open.

It is not "lazy" to want to utilize a product that makes things easier. Why on God's green earth would I want to have stacks of paper logs all over the place or in drawer files to document for tax purposes, FMCSA compliance, or whatever, when I can just use an Elog and have everything put into a computer for me to access as I need to. Heck, I scan all my expense receipts into the computer also for the same reason. It makes life a lot easier to keep track of things and that saves me a lot of wasted time. And time is money in business and time at home not taking care of this stuff is valuable to.

The problem I see with a lot of folks is they are suffering from an extreme case of myopia. They remind me of the amish horses with side blinders on. They can only see a small portion of what is going on around them. But as opposes to Yoder's horse, drivers are choosing to not see. They only see negatives and are bound and determined to not see positives. Man, I am not sure how you get up in the morning with this glass is half empty attitude.

It is one thing to not want to use something in the course of doing the job, but it is quite another to belittle others because they choose to use something. That exhibits a character flaw that I am not capable of helping with since I only had one year of psychology in college. I do think it goes way beyond ##### envy.

Where I learned math, 11 from 15 equals 4. If both drivers start out at the same time, the next morning, the driver that stopped after 11 hours got a full 10 hours off. The driver that backed his log up by 4 hours, after actually driving 15, only took a 6 hour break.
    Like Clinton said, arithmetic!

It was to early in the morning for me so I do have to apologize for the punctuation. :biggrin_25514: And it was a long old story I had to type out so I thought I would get some room for error.... :biggrin_2559:

Okay like I stated this wasn't pointed at one driver in particular but at the industry in a whole. Why should the E-log pushers belittle us paper guys that run legal and keep saying we the paper guys are whats forcing E-logs? I think my signature states exactly whats going on with the whole E-log push... Check it out...

Hey Autocar I was just wondering since you seem to think E-logs should be mandatory why don't you switch over to them and get off paper? I am just wondering so this is just a question.

Now, I am against "elog pushers". I have stated repeatedly that I am against all elog mandates and have gotten my congressman on board that position as well. But I use elogs, I like them, I don't want to go back to paper, the job is easier which equates to my life is easier. But it doesn't get us anywhere when others bash those of us that like using them as being wimps of the industry. I sure as heck do not want to go back to the "good 'ol days" of trucking and all of the hassles, equipment, etc. Just thinking of how it was in the 80's and early 90's doing this job makes me cringe. I would hang it up.

Vent outrage where it belongs.... at DC. Hound elected officials until they can't stand the sound of your name. Make your voice heard. It is sooooo easy to fire off an email to these characters just once a week. If just 30% of us would do that, it would make a difference. After all, only a third of the people of this country wanted to go to war with Britain in 1776, and we started a new country. It doesn't take big numbers to make a difference.

As soon as I drop an electronic engine in my truck I will, unless they come up with an adapter to make one work with my old Big Cam III, sooner.

I haven't said you personally are an E-log pusher. If you like them then thats fine but they shouldn't be madated since they DO NOT ENFORCE SAFTEY NOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE HOS REGULATIONS. That is my point in the whole discussion about E-logs.
