So let me get this right . Elogs are going to save us all from the OUTLAW truckers?
Are they magic ? I don't see how having one will stop you from driving over you hours.
Do they shut the truck off at 14 hours ? Do they call 911 and report you ?
I bet they are just like any other log book and don't mean squat unless you get checked .
So that means just more hoopla over nothing the way I see it.
There is nothing short of having a cop ride in the truck with you that is going to make this a safer job than the driver being safe to start with.
All the safety rules don't mean diddly if they aren't followed .
The truth is there is always going to be HOT loads and late freight and companies that will do what ever it takes to get it there no matter what.
But you have ask yourself is this load of toilet paper really worth killing myself or some family over? Will the world really stop turning if this load of beer is an hour late?
Just remember that most places make you wait if you miss your appointment so do they really need that freight as bad as the dispatcher is hollering about ?
If you are tired sleep we are all supposed to be adults in this profession start acting like it just tell dispatch what you can and will do . What are they going to fire you for being safe?
Late freight is better than freight scattered all down the highway. If ya don't believe me just ask your dispatcher the next time you are pushed to get it there no matter what.
So you can ask for new tattle tails and new rules and all that stuff but it still the driver who controls the truck if he don't do it it don't get done . That is the plain truth.
Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

Oh here is the link to check ANY company you want, just enter their respective DOT# in the box and read the info...

I respect your opinion and see where you are coming from. In my own opinion it will not do too much for the industry. Alot of the regulations that are in effect are serving no purpose towards safety. I am not a OUTLAW trucker I just like to have a little less of the you know who control. Instead of the e-logs BEING forced down our throats they need to have more enforcement elsewhere. -
I have noticed that the drivers that already know how to trip plan do significantly better than those that do not. We had a 71 year old dude get placed on eLogs (for the life of me I can't figure out why he didn't quit). But he asked all kinds of questions, planned his trips, ran hard in our 65 mph trucks, and turned in 3941 miles legal in his first 8 days.
So umm yeah, ask questions. Knowledge is power.07-379Pete and ECU51 Thank this. -
The co. I drive for started elogs over a year ago.
It caused a 15-25% pay cut. We do more sitting. And runs that were a 1 day trip are now 2 days, but same pay.
I have been driving over 20 years and have only been put out of service once and that was for a 15 minuet violation 12 years ago.
The companies and the govt. wants robots behind the wheel.I dont need a regulation or a computer to tell me when to drive and when to rest.volvodriver01 and shredfit1 Thank this. -
I totally agree with you.
Funny story about the robots... folks this is almost unbelievable.
I was at a fuel stop in Jackson MN, beside me pulls up a 'bottom feeder e-log...dipatch trip planning truck'. The guy jumps out and asks me, "Do you know where South Dakota is"? I say, "sure, why do ask"? He says, "I'm coming from Nevada and need to find South Dakota". I say, "Wait a minute, which way did you come... from the west on I90". He says, "Yeah". I say, "You messin' with me? ....you mush have drove through a large portion of South Dakota... the South Dakota border is about 75 miles west on I90". He says, "Crap, I gotta trun around".
What happens when there is a glitch in the e-log GPS trip planning thingy? The robots drive through the whole state and not know it?volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
volvodriver01, shredfit1 and G/MAN Thank this.

But hey... it IS about safety... right? -
it's odd that I hate eLogs, because I'm my companies eLog manager.

Have you listed the reasons?
